Yes Diesel runs the world transport wise - look at China

Speaking of which what is Trump up to with China ?. Trouble brewing here.

And speaking of Trump - The UK's energy Trump card is the fact that we are a windy island with many river estuaries with one of the largest tidal ranges twice a day in the world. We REALLY could wean away from oil & gas IF we had a mind to (but we - well the politicians & oil companies etc - just do not want to - yet.

Glad I'm out of it (work wise).

Dutch become net importer of gas as Groningen production cuts bite

AMSTERDAM, April 19 (Reuters) - Large production cuts at its vast Groningen gas field turned the Netherlands into a net importer of gas last year for the first time since the 1950s, the Dutch national statistics office said Thursday.

The Dutch have been one of the major gas suppliers in Europe for decades, exploiting what once was Europe’s largest gas field in the northern region of Groningen.

But they have rapidly shrunk production in recent years, as a string of earthquakes directly related to gas extraction damaged thousands of houses and buildings.

Production at the Groningen field has been cut by 60 percent since its 2013 peak of 53.8 billion cubic metres (bcm) per year, and the Dutch government last month said it would phase out production by 2030.....

In a letter to the Dutch House of Representatives dated 29 March 2018, Minister Wiebes of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate announced that natural gas extraction from the Groningen gas field will be terminated entirely in the coming years. No later than 2022 and possibly one year sooner, the natural gas extraction level will be reduced to below 12 billion Nm3. In subsequent years, it will gradually be reduced to zero. ... en_Web.pdf

"...related to gas extraction damaged thousands of houses and buildings." Unless the situation has changed very minor damage. Essentially cosmetic damage from what I've read.
