Also, I have read that it is possible to fiddle with 737 systems from distance. How the hell they did not recognize the plane?

This was an "outgoing craft"; it could not have been mistaken as a threat. The radar on the TOR is very high quality; it was built by the Russians. The IRG murdered a plane load of innocent people to revenge their leader, and make a statement. It is now up to the Iranians themselves to secure justice, and have the last word. They themselves have been plagued by these barbarians since the disposition of the Shah by the CIA. The US needs to stay out of other countries political business, and the Iranians need to secure their own society. They managed without the US for 5,000 years, and the US's constant meddling always gets people killed. The US has no business in the Middle East. If they want to sell the US their oil; fine! If they don't, it's the US's problem to figure out something else. The price that has been paid for oil has been insane. It has been a very high price measured in (D*B/b) Dead Bodies per barrel.

So now we're spinning conspiracy theories about the inner politics of OTHER countries? Seriously, tinfoil has no bounds.

Please explain to us exactly how that works. The plane was >90% Iranians, mostly expat teachers, doctors, students etc. Why on Gods green earth would they try to get revenge on the US by shooting down a plane full of their own people? Sorry, you have really lost it this time.

They themselves have been plagued by these barbarians since the disposition of the Shah by the CIA.

Are you off your meds? The US supported the Shah who was pro-western in his approach. This was the main reason the Mullahs argued to overthrow him. The only role the CIA played was being hidden by the Canadian ambassador when the Khomeini supporters came looking for them. You are definitely playing with less than a full deck.

Gosharoonies...what a dumb question. The Iranians who control the Islamic Republic have been killing "their own people" for years now.

The Iranian expat community consists mostly of people and the children of people who have fled the current regime. These people fled iran because they are not supporters of the Islamic republic.

The Islamic state has seen large pro-democracy demonstrations for months now, and the regime responded by shooting down many dissidents in Iran....by some estimate the Revolutionary Guards (the same group commanded by Gen SUlemanni before his killing in Iraq) have shot down over a thousand pro-democracy dissidents since the most recent cycle of pro-democracy demonstrations started.

The Islamic regime may rightly believe that the expat community are supporters of the pro-democracy movement within Iran, and might believe that shooting them down would be another blow at the pro-democracy movement and a warning to other Iranian expats to stop supporting the dissident movement.

I understand you accept whatever the Mullahs say on this issue, but other people are more skeptical of their claims, given their history of lying. Canadian PM Trudeau, for instance, has said he doesn't believe the Mullah's claims that the shootdown was accidental.

Please note that while many Ds claimed the Solamanni killing would unite the Iranians, the plane downing has re-energized the dissidents and the pro-democracy movement.... right this moment thousands of dissidents are back in the streets, calling for an end to the Islamic republic and "death" for the Iranian government officials involved with the cover-up of the plane downing. And the Iranian regime has once again resumed its policy of shooting down the dissidents in the streets, even though the dissidents are "their own people."

do you know any? I do. And the ones who fled the regime don't go back. The folks who were on the plane went overseas to pursue education and careers and were visiting home to be with family.

Yes, protestors on the ground who were pushing the envelope of what the government would allow. This is not the case with a bunch of people on a plane, protesting nothing, simply going home or to their second home. Completely different.

I understand you accept whatever the Mullahs say on this issue, but other people are more skeptical of their claims, given their history of lying. Canadian PM Trudeau, for instance, has said he doesn't believe the Mullah's claims that the shootdown was accidental.

Trudeau is basically a moron, there aren't many people in Canada who aren't Millenials or are brain-damaged who think otherwise. He does what he is told by his handlers who aren't a lot brighter.

And the Iranian regime has once again resumed its policy of shooting down the dissidents in the streets, even though the dissidents are "their own people."

Again this is protestors on the ground not families who are not protesting just trying to get home, many of whom don't care one way or the other about what is going on politically. It is clear what the gov't would think they can gain from detaining or even shooting protestors (it sends a message to other protestors to cease and desist) but shooting Iranian citizens or former citizens out of the air? What exactly does that gain them? Nothing but the ire of the rest of the population. It certainly does nothing to somehow punish the US for killing one of their generals now does it? If you think it does then you really have your head inserted in a dark spot.

Just more conspiracy theory BS.

The IRG has come out in the Ukrainian press, and admitted that they shot down the plane! That is how it works!! Why don't you take a trip to the Ukraine, and ague with them. Just tell them NO, NO, NO you didn't do it. I know, because I am the all seeing eye. You are one ongoing, messed up case of cognitive dissonance.

Venezuela, Iran; who's next on the sacrificial plate of the world's oil industry? They have already taken off over 5mb/d; completely destroying two nations, and the price is still only $59. The world's petroleum production is well into its final depletion phase, and oil will have to be continually shut in to keep what remains of the industry alive. Unless it is admitted that we are in the final stage of the oil age, this can only result in WAR. A war more terrible than any living person can possibly imagine.

Just for a reality check think back to the recent destroyer “accidents.” A further clarification on the McCole accident came out a few weeks ago. In that case the Helmsman wanted to go grab a snack, so they had a rookie, someone with 3 months in the service, take the helm.

Three months, half that time is in boot camp, then some leave, then transiting to Japan. The kid had come from a farm and had never been on the ocean before. And they put him in the helm. WTF!

The poor kid hardly had time enough to find the head and his bunk, clearly he was not “poorly trained” but NOT trained for his job.

And besides that all kinds of problems have come out about the ships control systems. The Senior Chief Petty Officer, the guy in charge of all bridge enlisted personnel, the guy who teaches these personnel, had received an informal 3 hour run down on the ships systems when he came aboard.

There is a BIG RED MUSHROOM BUTTON that they mashed a few times. The problem was it did NOT do what they thought it did. NO ONE one the ship properly understood the BIG RED MUSHROOM BUTTON. They thought it transferred steering to an alternate location, instead it was a RESET button. The ships manuals were 3 years and several software revisions out of date.

If that can happen in the US Navy what can can we expect from Iran or other countries?

Well look at Norway and the frigate, their pride and joy, they sunk. They SAW the bloody tanker but thought it was a dock. Harbor control saw the situation evolving but did not broadcast a warning. The tanker broadcast warnings, correct navigational directions to the frigate, that were ignored.

So why do it happen? More interesting is why does it not happen more often?

your claim was the IRG shot the plane down as a means of retaliation for the killing of their General. Yes, they admitted to shooting down the plane (presumably error)...your reasoning as to why makes zero sense. Oh, I forgot, you are claiming the plane was somehow full of Iranian dissidents and American spies or some such thing.

Trump's "Maximum Pressure" sanctions on Iran are having an effect. The GDP contracted by 9% last year, the currency has tanked, inflation is high, food and fuel prices are souring.

Iran is an overpopulated nation with famine reported in four regions. The nation has been rocked by violent protests.

The regime is under pressure. It is killing its own people on the streets. The regime and its different power fractions are perhaps not behaving "rationally" under pressure.

Maybe the downing of the jet was a mistake. No one seems to be able to make sense of the downing of the jet.

Its the kind of thing that would be fully investigated and the truth of what happened would come out under a normal regime. Unfortunately for Iran, theocratic rule by elderly and unelected religious fanatics isn't the road to good governance and and a full and honest investigation isn't likely to happen in Iran under the current regime.

One thing is clear---the Islamic regime has been caught out lying about the missile attack on the plane. Now thousands of people are in the streets calling for death to Khamani and the overthrow of the Islamic Republic because the missile attack, and the religious nuts who run Iran are responding in the worst possible way just as they always do....they have once again ordered regime snipers to shoot down pro-democracy demonstrators in the streets.

Image
A large number of Iranian people want to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran...the lies about the missile attack on a passenger jet are just the latest outrage

Cheers!

pro-democracy University students protesting in Tehran are now chanting: "They killed our geniuses and replaced them with clerics" Sounds like the demonstrators in Iran are blaming Khameni and the Muslim fundamentalists who control the Islamic state for the murder of the Iranian ex-pats on the plane---many of whom had advanced degrees or were in graduate school--- as well as for the murder of many intellectuals and academics in Iran back when the Islamic revolution occurred.

"SM Radio سمیرا
@SMohyeddin
This is a brand new chant - never heard before. It’s in response to the caliber of people killed on #UkranianPlaneCrash & the people killed 40 years ago during Iran revolution

THEY KILLED
OUR GENIUSES
& REPLACED
THEM WITH CLERICS
”#IranProtests #Tehran Sunday January 12th
"

Its very sad that the Iranian people are trapped under a crazy theocratic dictatorship controlled by old men that take a 1400 year old religious text to be the ultimate authority on how to rule a modern country.

Cheers!
