Found a video taken in China a few years ago which appears to show a similar phenomena.

First time posting video here..*crosses fingers*

It just got a mention on the NBC evening news, with some good video. Clearly man-made, I would guess either a device to disperse bio-weapons or a device to modify weather/climate.

Huh. And I was gonna guess After Effects.
Lord, here comes the flood

If again the seas are silent in any still alive
It'll be those who gave their island to survive...

Aw, shucks yeah it was just a boring old Russian nuke test launch

Norwegian astronomer Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard says it's 99.9% safe to say that it's a rocket out of control, while some newspapers and TV channels are quoting Russian military sources, confirming that this is a failed Bulava missile launched from a nuclear submarine in the White Sea.

The Norwegian defense has confirmed that, even while they have not admitted the failure, the Russian Navy alerted them about the tests prior to the giant spiral appearing in the skies.

plus, they saw the drifting contrails the next day so it was definitely a rocket:

The problem with the missile explanation is that the edge of the swirl would not continue to rotate. Once the gas is ejected, it would not have rotational velocity, it would have tangental velocity. From a spinning emitter of particles, the swirl is "painted" as the jet spins; the edge doesn't rotate.

I believe the particles are actually moving tangentially - the spiral movement is just an illusion.

Isn't it obvious? Obama,The annointed one, was in Norway to receive his peace prize and to bless the crowds. The Norwegians also presented him with Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

Let us recite the parable of his coming togeather........

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

This is the proof david braben was waiting for. A hyperspace cloud. Except he didn't predict the spiral. Either that or the protoss just used a busted warp engine to try invade earth.

Well I didn't see Obama WALK from Denmark to Norway... so maybe he CAN'T walk on water. At least Jim Carrey can part his tomato soup!

Alas, it was just the Russian sub missile launch. Ivan fessed up.

I used to be in the US Navy. From what I know about the history of Russian subs, I wouldn't trust the Russians to launch empty bottles of vodka out of their subs.

Yeah the Russians fessed up that another of their Buluva rockets had an epic fail, because they WANT that program to be seen as incompetant and not a valid up-and-coming nuclear deterrent by the rest of the world.

Aye, that sounds about right, they are trying the incompetant diversionary tactic, when in reality they have a full working system!
Anyway, to me, those are aliens running away from earth cos is about to go to hell, using their space warp drive :P

Actually, this really reminds me of something from the "electric universe" theory(s). Youtube Link. I keep watching the video, and it's hard for me to tell if the phenomenon is actually rotating or not. It looks a little like the filimant structures stretching up to the spiral are rotating or not. There's another link to a similar video on youtube of another "missile failure," but the newscast is in chinese (literally).
