I assume Nigeria is a shorter route for imported oil.

Of course, it wouldn't be possible now to invade Nigeria because the USA is over-commited in Iraq and Afghanistan. But would it have been easier for the Shrubbies to invade Nigeria rather than Iraq? Your thoughts please, on this alternative history.

Two things popped to mind, 1) After the disaster in Somalia it was not likely the USA was going to go back to Africa without a lot of public support and 2) Nigeria has been a very good ally to the UK and USA for many years, invading them would damage our international standing in ways that are unimaginable.

Why would America attack a country that is willing to sell their oil anyway?

Umm...could it be resistance?

Because they are not willing?

Riots 'kill hundreds' in Nigeria.

Unread postby dorlomin » Sat 29 Nov 2008, 13:45:20

Hundreds of people are reported to have been killed during religious clashes in the central Nigerian town of Jos.

A Muslim charity says it collected more than 300 bodies, after clashes broke out over disputed elections. It is not clear how many Christians have died. There is no confirmation, but figures tend to be notoriously unreliable in Nigeria, says the BBC's Alex Last.

Police have imposed a 24-hour curfew and the army is patrolling the streets of the town of Jos.

The Nigerian Red Cross says at least 10,000 people have fled their homes.

The governing party in Plateau state, the PDP, which is mostly backed by Christians, was declared to have won the state elections. The result was contested by the ANPP, which has support from Muslims.

BBC

Very preliminary report so no point jumping to any conclusions yet, but it sounds a pretty unpleasant story.

The future does not look good for Nigeria. On an dutch website there was a report about the growing world population.

Link

It wil go up to 9 billion people or so. They also mentioned some countries . Nigeria is expected to grow to 288 million people by 2050. Makes you think. Almost as much people in america wil there be then in Nigeria wich is only about 1/10 of its size. I am afraid that these riots might happen more often in the future, especially when Nigeria starts to run out of oil...

Funny how this story, which has killed at least double the Mumbai attacks, has received almost no coverage. A snippet, that's all a few hundred africans get. I wonder what a few million starving africans will get when there are breadlines in the west.

It'd be different if they've found a rabbi or two. Jews, the salt of the land, the g-d chosen people, that what matters and interest everybody who has a tv set.

What happened in India was unusual. What happened in Africa is all too common.

The attackers went specifically for people with American and British passports while they were in the tourism section of Mumbai. So yeah, I'm guessing that there were plenty of white victims.

There were about 15-20 white victims. There have been worse days for white people. Natalie Holloway's disappearance comes to mind.

ase someone didn't enlighten you yet we are all from the same family in europe. That has been proven, therefore color is just limited expression in genetics take a black and a white and cros them and you get a brown.

we are all cousins.
Only Noah was on the boat. all descendants are same family.

I find it hilarious to see words "Noah" and "genetics' in the same post. Colour itself has very little to do with a race. There are tons of white people with a sunburn who looks more black than any Albino Negro or many mongrels in second or third generation.
Anyways , I'''ll stop being racist once all liberals will stop taking medication to get rid of their worms or even anti-malaria drugs.
We are all descendants of the same family after all , its not fair to give advantage to one over another.
