Very strange things. Now the little box with the numbers you have to enter when signing in is missing.

It'll be all straightened out in the morning, I suppose.

Tried to get in all day!

I don't care what the problem is/was, I am just glad I can get back in finally!

Yet another tedious hack... yawn.

This one was particularly nasty though. Not a run of the mill script hack where they just want to screen shot your hacked page as proof they did it.

This one was quite devious... changed a subtle password file... then deleted our DB backup...

Time to harden security again I suppose... sigh.

Thanks for your patience.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Holy crap.

Do you suppose it was some bored delinquent or might it have been politically motivated?

I imagine there be powerful people who do not want certain issues discussed in such large fora.

Meh... Happens all the time.

This was a pure hack however, (meaning it's just a functionality hack... No visibility for the hackers)

Which is about a 6 on my "oh shit".- o - meter.

Still, it's unlikely anyone would feel strongly enough to bother since everyone is free to post any arguments they like here at will.

Just comes with the territory is all.

Perhaps... but when you are losing the debate, the best strategy is often to sabotage the debate. For one, the Pentagon is certainly waging information warfare.

Yeah thanks for the effort Aaron and everyone.

There's no problem logging in if you just delete your browser stuff from all your browsers and all pc's you use.

I think.

If anyone else is having problems logging in, try using an *old* password.

I'm guessing they've restored from an old backup. Hence my new password (changed a month ago?) wasn't working, but my old one did.

Yup we restored from an off site backup... bastards deleted the current one off the server.

And yes... it's possible some anti-peak hacker did the deed... 'course... we're still here... so...

Weird random login bugs detected

Unread postby lys3rg0 » Fri 19 Sep 2008, 16:34:23

In addition to the other problem reported on the "mark all topics" thread, i have experienced other various technical inconveniences with the site related to sessions and being remembered as logged in or not.

For example, i had acces to all the sections when i browsed http://peakoil.com, but i was denied access to the private messages when i browsed http://www.peakoil.com and i received an error message saying i'm not logged in.

Since cookies are kept separately for the 2 domains, this would be normal if i only logged in on peakoil.com and was browsing as a guest on www.peakoil.com. However, i was seen as logged in on the www.peakoil.com main page, it just popped the error message when clicking on "No New messages", and it asked me to log in again when i clicked on "Your Account".

Can't log in

Unread postby skyemoor-moderator » Tue 31 Mar 2009, 21:02:25

When I try to log in, a window comes up that asks what application I want to use to open the file "ucp.php" with. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.22 on Ubuntu 7.10
