Week beginning on April 8, 2018: 409.47 ppm
Weekly value from 1 year ago: 408.60 ppm
Weekly value from 10 years ago: 386.62 ppm

Equipment glitches happen from time to time, and any time a reading is more than about 3 ppmv different from the recent trend it gets set aside as a glitch. I expect things to return to normal soon, but I just repost the data NOAA publishes, I don't do the research myself.

OK

But system errors in critical moments (Climate Doomsday looms) => Arctic CH4 Blow Out ?!

It would be nice to now when the event starts to get ready to die soon.

It's NOT AN EVENT. TEOTWAWKI started around 1800 when thhe human race exceeded the sustainable population of the planet, and the world started to be irreparibly damaged. Your whole life has been during eco-system colapse, and you have never known anything but a dying world, nor did your grandfather or will your own grandchildren.

It is a process, not an event, 200+ years old and gaining momentuum.

"event" is relative to time scale, of course. In geological and evolutionary time scales, 200 years is faster than a blink of the eye!

Meanwhile:

For the week ending April 21 2018, the weekly Mauna Loa atmospheric CO2 concentrations were 411.07ppm:

T or others...any thoughts on whether we are at or near peak for the year?

As if even an Arctic blowout would mean sudden death / doomsday in a matter of months. It would certainly make things much worse and should put an end to the claims it will take multiple centuries before the problems are serious, but despite the fondest wishes of fast crash doomers, it wouldn't mean the biosphere would keel over in a matter of minutes.

But by all means, continue your fantasies.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

The signature of a multi gigaton CH4 blow out will be written i think.
It happened in the past and it will happen again.

412.37 parts per million (ppm) #CO2 in the atmosphere on April 23, 2018

HIGHEST DAILY AVERAGE REPORTED SO FAR IN 2018 AT MAUNA LOA

https://twitter.com/CO2_earth/status/988811276242403329

And probably the highest in millions of years.

Thanks, T.

Robertscribbler now has a post on the latest CO2 numbers:

https://robertscribbler.com/2018/04/25/ ... n-history/

CO2 is Regularly Exceeding 410 Parts Per Million for First Time in Human History

During May of 2018, average monthly CO2 values will likely range between 411 and 412 parts per million. A new record for a heat-trapping gas that is causing serious damage to both the Earth’s environment and human civilizations.

Seeams we are at the beginning of an exponential.
- Ability for oceans to absorb CO2 decrease
- Rain Forest is killed by humans
- expansion of cities on forest and arable lands
- Albedo decreases with ice melting
- ice melting frees CH4, permafrost melting releases CH4
- All the heat absorbed by the transformation of solid ice to liquid ice will be shifted to atmosphere when poles will be ice free.
- On top of that, we are throwing more and more CO2 in the atmosphere thanks to our business as usual non negotiable policy.

Sys, you're beginning to get the picture, but I have about 300 pages on similar feedbacks kicking in already or in the wings, there's much much more.

Why More Carbon Dioxide May Not Lead to More-Productive Crops

https://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/why-m ... tive-crops

New study challenges what we know about CO2's effect on different plants

By the 15th and 20th years of the experiment, the change was unmistakable...the efficiency of the C3 grasses declined despite still growing in a cloud of CO2

OK, lemmings don’t commit mass suicide. But they do reproduce chaotically, and periodically consume their way out of sustainable habitats, and into mass migrations that result in most of their population dying.

Sound familiar? We’re cavalierly headed for our own cliff – 400 parts per million of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere sometime in the next couple of months, if not sooner.

The lemming has a brain the size of a pea. What’s our excuse?

We used to consider 400 ppm to be our Maginot line; the thing we had to avoid at all costs. But it turns out, 400 is too high. And we’ve known this for some time.

As the former head of the IPCC, Dr. Rajendra Pauchuri said in 2009, “What is happening, and what is likely to happen, convinces me that the world must be really ambitious and very determined at moving toward a 350 target …”

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2013 ... e-lemmings

>412 ppm in 2018

So humans have a brain but humans on earth are like bacteria in a petri dish
