I think "points" is exactly the same as the total number of posts and can be traded for... nothing.

As far as I can tell the points stopped accumulating during the last site revamp. You will never get any more and you will never be able to trade them for Krugerrands or cruise miles. Now I will never get to take that cruise to Bora Bora.
