Did you count? Seriously. What is his (kept promises) / (all promises) value? How does it compare to that value for previous presidents? I'm sure that you have all the numbers on hand. Let's see them.

Trump’s many broken promises - Vox
  • As a candidate, Trump promised to raise taxes on the rich; as president, he promised tax changes that at a minimum wouldn’t benefit the rich.
  • Trump promised to break up America’s largest banks by reinstated old Glass-Steagall regulations that prevented financial conglomerates from operating in multiple lines of business.
  • Trump promised price controls on prescription drugs.
  • Trump promised to “take the oil” from Iraq to reduce the financial burden of US military policy.
  • Trump promised many times that he would release his tax returns and promised to put his wealth into a blind trust.
  • Trump vowed rollback of climate change regulations but said he was committed to upholding clean air and clean water goals.
  • Trump promised a $1 trillion infrastructure package.

No he isn't. Obama spent much more of his day in policy analysis than Trump seems to. Trump seems to have outsourced that to Fox & Friends, trusting that TV show more than his aides. He also spends much of his day watching TV and tweeting.

The US will officially suspend its obligations under the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty tomorrow. This is well overdue as Obama ignored the frequent violations of treaty by Russia. I wonder how this works with the Muh Russia collusion narrative?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/01/us/p ... reaty.html

WASHINGTON — The United States is suspending one of the last major nuclear arms control treaties with Russia after heated conversations between the two powers recently failed to resolve a long-running accusation that Moscow is violating the Reagan-era treaty.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the decision on Friday as the Trump administration maintained that the Russian government has been unwilling to admit that a missile it has deployed near European borders violates the terms of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.

I'm sure some left wing nut on CNN will soon be declaring this was the plot all along....Trump colluded with Russia so he could remove the US from the IRNF treaty thereby giving Russia the ability to increase their stock pile of long range nuclear missiles, start WWIII and take over the US with Trump as one of the new oligarchs!

Trump has been an oligarch since he was about 40 years old.

BTW, I am of the opinion that both Russia and the USA are violating the treaty. There are many different platforms to deliver nuclear bombs, missiles, cruise missles, and even backpack weapons today. I'm pretty sure we keep some of our weapons in their cities, and they keep some in ours.

Another reason to prefer the rural lifestyle.

The USA has been upgrading its tactical nuclear weapons. This actually started under Obama for you Orange Man Bad haters. These nuclear warheads are about a tenth the yield of what we dropped on Hiroshima. If your desire is to destroy an airport or factory complex without incinerating the city nearby, they are the ticket. The intermediate range missile is perfect for them. With the enhanced ranges and mobile characteristic of the launchers, we can complicate an adversary's defense against them. For example, from South Korea, Japan, and even Guam, we could penetrate deep within China to take out selected industrial and military targets.

From the SOTU last night.

"President Donald Trump slams socialism: "America was founded on liberty and Independence and not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free and we will stay free."

"America will never be a socialist country."

But in the real world, none are ever found. Can the radiation be effectively shielded 100% in a compact, easy to hide package?

Even in science fiction books, the nukes are hidden way out in the country, where they can be deeply buried (for later recovery if needed), so they're unlikely to be found. (i.e. "The Weapon", 2005, by Williamson).

Since they can be delivered accurately by an abundance of platforms, why would the major powers need to hide nukes in cities? Now, terrorists -- that's a different story, but again, hiding them in the middle of nowhere for delivery by an activated cell would make a lot more sense.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Lets pretend 10 backpack nukes go off critically damaging either communication nodes, refineries, or electrical generation plants. You are in charge of the entire US nuclear strike force. Who do you strike at? China, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, who?

Congresswomen Wore White to Trump's State of the Union to 'Show Solidarity'
Dozens of Democratic Congresswomen wore white to President Trump's State of the Union address to send a message of "solidarity with women across the country."

During a press conference that same day, Rep. Brenda Lawrence, a leader of the Democratic Women's Working Group, said, "Today we stand together wearing white in solidarity with the women of the suffrage movement who refused to take no for an answer. To an administration that has closed its eyes to women, we will be seen."

Judging from that article's pictures, the women wearing white included at least one black woman and at least one Hispanic woman -- not what one would expect of the Ku Klux Klan. BTW, the KKK is a right-wing organization, not a left-wing one.

I am lead to believe the KKK was formed as an anti- Republican group and many of its original members were from the Democrat party of that time. Maybe what I've read is incorrect.

Actually the KKK is a domestic terrorist organization established by southern Ds during Reconstruction to resist the efforts being made by the Rs to give the vote to the former slaves in the south.

When reconstruction ended the Southern Ds used the KKK to roll back the gains that southern blacks had made, and to keep blacks disenfranchised as the southern Ds passed Jim Crow laws mandating racial discrimination and segregation.

Cheers!

The Republican Party started out as a northern party, but it and the Democrats have exchanged strongholds over the mid and late 20th century to the point that the Republican Party is now the party of Jefferson Davis.

Republican Mississippi Senator Trent Lott said as much back in 1984: "The spirit of Jefferson Davis lives in the 1984 Republican Platform." Trent Lott - Wikiquote

Looking at what Abraham Lincoln pushed, he seems much like some present-day Democrat. Maybe not a Bernie Sanders Democrat or an AOC Democrat, but maybe a Clinton Democrat or a Pelosi Democrat or an Obama Democrat.
  • He fought a war against the South.
  • He raised taxes to finance the war.
  • He supported civil-rights efforts: abolition of slavery.
  • He supported education efforts: land-grant colleges.
  • He supported infrastructure construction: the Transcontinental Railroad.
  • He supported giveaways of "free stuff": the Homestead Act, with its giveaway of government land.
If Lincoln Were Alive, He'd Be a Democrat | History News Network
Abraham Lincoln was not in fact much of a Republican when he was alive. Lincoln was for most of his life a proud member of the Whig party whose platform of harnessing the power of the government to invest in the public good is not greatly different in substance than of modern mainstream Democrats. ...

A reincarnated Lincoln would relive part of his past life listening to the states' rights arguments contemporary Republican use against any proposal to help working families. The man who created the Department of Agriculture would recoil at the anti-government diatribes of House Republicans. The president who levied an income tax on the wealthy would have be shocked at George W. Bush's disproportionate tax cut to the wealthiest one percent. The chief executive who believed in practical action to regulate the marketplace such as standardizing railroad gauges across the country would face a barrage of paranoia about big government from the right wing think tanks and media. But above all the president who did everything he could to avoid a war would not have sent Americans into battle on false or faulty pretenses based on slanted intelligence.

Only someone who has a serious love affair with big government would equate liberty and independence with anarchy. Read the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution again. Life and liberty is what its all about.

Where government fears the people there is liberty. Where the people fear the government is tyranny.

The only possible non-coercive government is a government much like some figurehead monarch, a monarch like Queen Elizabeth II. Even a "night-watchman state" requires some coercion.

And neither should government be an overbearing parent who desires to dictate every aspect of our lives. Most adults can live their lives without someone telling them what to do.
