Another example of the media presenting the false idea that climate change takes place as a smooth rise, not as a step change of abrupt shift. It does not go 1,2,3 it goes more like 1,2,5,-1,2,5 until you hit on an intrinsic limit like we did at the PTEM. Or in the other direction Snowball Earth.
We know that between 420-520 ppmv the earth in the past had little or no ice in the northern hemisphere for the last 250 million years. That is not a change of 3C degrees, it is a shift to a world averaging between 18C and 19C world average temperature, and it happens as a tipping point change. Going the other way from the end of the Miocene Epoch we dropped from 17C to 12C virtually overnight, in a geological eye-blink. From 12C we gradually cooled in the north until glaciation took place leading to the current series of ice ages, but it was no long slow process to drop that 5C degrees at the end of the Miocene. It went down 1C,2C,5C in a big step change. Going the other direction it is predicted to follow the same behavior.

I should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, write, balance accounts, build a wall, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, pitch manure, program a computer, cook, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
