Thousands of ISIS Fighters Flee in Syria, Many to Fight Another Day

“ISIS fighters are fleeing Syria and Iraq,” the homeland security secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen, said in remarks in Washington last week. “Jihadists are going underground, dispersing to other safe havens, including on the internet, and returning to their home countries.”

Gen. Paul J. Selva, the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters last week that the remaining Islamic State leadership, even while on the run, still had “fairly robust” communications with its shadowy network of fighters now on the lam.

While President Trump highlighted the liberation of almost all of the Islamic State’s territory in Iraq and Syria in his State of the Union address last week, American military and intelligence officials say the group is still able to inspire and enable followers to carry out attacks. Mr. Trump seemed to acknowledged this in his speech, noting, “There is much more work to be done.”

Analysts say they are also seeing signs that Islamic State fighters are adopting guerrilla tactics to terrorize civilians.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-02- ... r-damascus

A US-led coalition has conducted several "defensive" airstrikes against Syrian forces allied with President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday in Syria's Deir al-Zor province, in retaliation for what the coalition said was an "unprovoked" attack on the US-backed left-wing Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) headquarters.

Furthermore, CNN reported late Thursday that US forces are now investigating whether Russian contractors were involved in the initial attack against the SDF, after a US official told the news outlet that the possibility could not be ruled out.

The retaliatory airstrikes are said to have occurred 8km (5 miles) east of the Euphrates River, while no U.S. troops embedded with the local fighters at their headquarters are believed to have been wounded or killed in the attack on the headquarters, reports Reuters.

The US-led coalition did not say whether any pro-Syrian forces were killed in the retaliatory strike.

The SDF made a deal with Daesh on the eastern shore of the Euphrates River. It is a legitimate target for the SAA since it an armed secessionist group that is serving the same regime change agenda as did Daesh and al Nusra. The zone to the north-east of the Euphrates, including important oil fields is not some indigenous Kurd territory that deserves independence. This is yet more early 1900s style of big state carving up of the Middle East and Africa that is creating problems until today.

Note in the above article how CNN is "investigating" if Russian contractors attacked the US backed militants. Gee, what a war crime. This is the same CNN and Washington that accuse Russia of invading eastern Ukraine without a shred of proof. The Donbass rebels would have had it much easier if the Russian air force could attack Kiev regime units on demand. Maybe it is time for Russia to take the example from the USA. Of course the shrieks of fake outrage in the NATO MSM would be deafening. We would probably see the beginning of WWIII.

Confirmed: US retrains ISIS and ISIS-like jihadists in east Syria and re-brands them ‘democratic forces’ (VIDEO)

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – Clear-cut evidence has emerged that the United States is retraining jihadist militants – most of them surrendered ISIS members as well as fighters of other militant groups with an ideology similar to that of ISIS – in east Syria and re-branding them as ‘democratic forces.’

After many, many months of complaints by Russian military and diplomatic authorities that US advisor forces in Syria’s east were retraining ISIS and ISIS-like militants, a video (shown below) released by the Deir Ezzor-based opposition media outlet Euphrates Post has confirmed it.

The video is the centerpiece in a puzzle of otherwise vague information that has been leaked about US intelligence activities in east Syria over the last year.

It should be made clear that the Arab fighters in the video below do not belong to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) proper, but rather a lesser known off-shoot militia called the Deir Ezzor Military Council (DMC).

More troops pour into Damascus for East Ghota battle
By Zen Adra - 22/02/2018
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/vi ... ta-battle/
Image

Hundreds of soldiers armed with tanks, armored and technical vehicles of the Syrian Army’s 9th Armoured Division arrived to the Syrian capital to take part in the long-awaited battle to liberate the rebel bastion in Eastern Ghouta.

The newly-arrived reinforcements are the Division’s elite storming battalion under the command of Colonel Niza Fandi. The battle-hardened soldiers substantially helped lifting the siege imposed by Ghouta rebels on the Army Vehicle Base last December.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Army continue to bomb Islamist militants positions and infrastructures in East Ghouta with rockets, artillery and airstrikes.

TURKISH WAR CRIMES AFRIN SYRIA => "Vernichtungskrieg"

*************
[Graphic 18+] Turkish-backed rebels gruesomely execute unarmed man in Afrin
By Leith Aboufadel - 23/02/2018

A video allegedly taken in the Afrin region of northern Aleppo recently showed a group of Turkish-backed rebels gruesomely executing a man and taking his tractor.

Based on the footage, the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) grabbed the unidentified man by the hair before throwing him to the ground and shooting him repeatedly.

On February 22, the Turkish Army’s artillery guns and rocket launchers shelled an aid convoy that was about to enter the Afrin area through the Ziyarah crossing in the northern Aleppo countryside, according to the Hawar News Agency (ANHA).

The ANHA added that thousands of civilians from the Kurdish-held areas in eastern Syria had been onboard the convoy, which was transferring humanitarian aid to people in Afrin.

The ultimate goal for Dictator Erdogan is to "clean" Afrin (Syria) from Kurds and to put Turk proxies in the new "Great Turkey"
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

https://www.opendemocracy.net/north-afr ... re-is-left

Turkey’s invasion of Afrin should be bringing the international left out onto the streets of all major capitals. Protesters should be pouring into Hyde Park with the red, white, green and yellow of the Kurdish flag as the chant “We are all PYD now!” fills the air.

But they’re not. The streets are quiet — save a few Kurdish activists — and displays of solidarity are scarce.

Compare this with the situation of another stateless people: the Palestinians. When the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) razes Gaza to the ground, activists waste no time in donning keffiyehs and marching on Whitehall; violence in the Holy Land permeates the major periodicals and Israel is fiercely denounced on social media.

Why, then, the relative silence when it comes to the persecution of the Kurds?

An Islamist-nationalist government, headed by the demagogic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has invaded a foreign country with the help of local jihadis in order to crush a leftist movement. And this, furthermore, while he strangles Kurdish democratic aspirations at home. Where is the outrage?

WAR = WAR

http://jordantimes.com/opinion/gwynne-d ... iddle-east

The Syrian war is in its eighth year now, but the commitment of Turkish and American troops to the conflict raises the odds that it might make it to a decade. And down on the ground there is an orgy of betrayals as the local players lose old foreign patrons and find new ones.

Weirdly, it reminds me of the J. Geils Band’s greatest song (they did not have many): “Love Stinks”.

You love her

But she loves him

And he loves somebody else

You just can not win...

I've had the blues

The reds and the pinks

One thing for sure

Love stinks.

There is not much love happening in Syria right now, but the tangle of alliances and allegiances, mistaken identities, misunderstandings and betrayals, come straight out of a very bad romantic novel. However, real people are being killed in large numbers at every step in this pathetic, ridiculous story, and it stinks.

Syria: Where Chaos Theory Meets Murphy’s Law
By Charles Bybelezer | The Media Line
February 20, 2018

Within every complex system there is a degree of underlying order. But that does not preclude the potential for interactions within that organization to bring about, time after time, the worst possible outcome.

Such may be an apt description of the recent developments in Syria, as the conflict took yet another (down)turn with forces allied to the Assad regime cutting a deal with Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) to deploy to Afrin to help repel a month-long Turkish assault.....

https://southfront.org/syrian-war-repor ... withdraws/

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies are about to re-establish full control of the southern Damascus countryside. The SAA has already liberated the entire district of al-Hajar al-Aswad and the rest of the area from ISIS.

On May 19, the SAA and the remaining ISIS militants reached a temporary ceasefire in the area. On May 20, a number of buses entered the area hinting that ISIS was ready to surrender. On May 21, ISIS members started wihdrawing from the area...

Eagle-meets-Bear and the Syria tug-of-war
Trump and Putin are likely to discuss the tricky situation in southern Syria when they meet; while the US president says he wants US forces back home, the CIA, Pentagon and Israel may be happier to see them stay so the war-torn state remains unstable
By PEPE ESCOBAR JULY 5, 2018 1:20 PM (UTC+8)

Syrian government tanks and soldiers take positions in the town of Western Ghariyah, about 15km east of the southern embattled city of Daraa.

Ahead of the Eagle-meets-Bear Trump-Putin summit on July 16 in Helsinki, Syria-centered spin has gone into overdrive. Unknown sources have leaked what is billed as President Trump’s alleged Syria deal discussed with Jordan’s King Abdullah.

Trump would “allow” Damascus, supported by Russian air power, to regain its territory along the borders of Jordan, Israel and Iraq. In return, President Putin and Bashar al-Assad would agree to establish an extended demilitarized zone (DMZ) along these same borders, off-limits to any Iranian forces.

That would set the scene for Trump’s already announced desire to extract US forces out of Syria before October and the US mid-term elections. The president would be able to declare the proverbial “Mission Accomplished” in defeating Daesh or Islamic State.

Russia and Syria are coordinating on the displacement of the terrorists to Idlib. It will be the final cauldron for them.

Trump has nothing to offer regarding the south. His input would be relevant to the region currently occupied by the SDF to the east of the Euphrates. The SAA has been steam rolling through the southern "rebel" territory like a hot knife through butter. The "freedom fighters" are running away leaving all their vast arsenal of NATO weapons for the SAA to collect.

The ISIS annihilation process is going well in Syria

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) scored a major advance in northeast Syria this week, capturing several areas that were under the control of the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization.

Backed by US and French airstrikes, the SDF troops managed to capture several towns along the Hasakah-Deir Ezzor axis, resulting in big losses for the Islamic State.

According to pro-SDF activists, their troops captured the towns of Al-Ismail, Al-Aqra, Bir Mazal, Bir Dahamad, Al-Jarjari, Al-Halluni, Al-Bujari, Abud al-Jadan, al-Khinzir, Bir Zuqum, Bir Umm Ghurba, Qarat al-Moutab, Umm al-Rus, Sabkhat al-Sahil and Kisham after a fierce battle with ISIS....

These reinforcements were part of the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces branch, who have been tasked with leading the upcoming offensive in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

The total number of soldiers taking part in the upcoming northwestern Syria offensive is expected to be the largest government force to participate in any offensive during this war...

After being stretched super thin by an enormous internal frontline against the jihadis wreaking the country, the SAA can now focus its resources on one target. With the assistance of Russian jets this should be a mop up operation.

Of course we will probably see some White Helmet false flag chemical weapons attack hoaxes. You know, Assad and Putin are Satan's minions and need to use chemical weapons even if they are totally useless (civilian collateral damage does not achieve military advances) and are winning. That is the story we have the NATO fake stream media peddling to the world.
