SQL ERROR, cannot post

Unread postby SumYunGai » Sun 20 Nov 2016, 20:41:59

When I tried to post, I got this error message:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x99\x81 A...' for column 'post_text' at row 1 [1366]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

---EDIT---

Wow. I can't believe that just worked. I will go back and try to make my post again.

Okay. I went back and tried to make my post and it keeps giving me the same error. For some reason I can post here but not there. I have been trying to post on the Etp Q&A thread.

Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Try posting from another browser. Also try posting in your browser's safe mode.

Okay. I tried safe mode. Now I get this message:

You cannot make another post so soon after your last.

How come I am able to post in this thread but not that one?

That message just means you have to wait a few minutes before posting again. It's an anti-spam feature.

I don't think the technical support forum requires authentication. So people who can't authenticate can still get help.

But I haven't posted anything. And I have waited more than a few minutes. I made a post in another thread as a test. It worked fine. It seems that the only thread I cannot post in is the Etp Q&A thread.

Did you try making a simple test post in the Etp Q&A thread? Maybe there is a problem with the contents of the post you are trying to make. Try just the word "test" and nothing else.

I see you are posting again. The problem might have been a character set problem with the SQL database. Your post probably had some non standard character in it that the database choked on. I don't know if it's worth investigating to fix it but this article might help the db admin prevent the problem in the future:

I managed to make the post. The problem seems to have resolved itself. Thanks for the help, kublikhan.
