Cannot post a picture

Unread postby Jellric » Fri 21 Aug 2009, 23:01:36

This seems to be the only forum where I cannot post a pic.

I resized my pic since the forum feedback said it was too big and uploaded it to imageshack and copied and pasted the "hotlink for forums(2)" code..just the part after http..I clicked on Img and c+p'ed that in there and this is what came out:

[/img]

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, here's what I did. First I uploaded my pic from my computer to http://imageshack.us/ You do that by selecting "browse", locate the pic on your computer then select "start upload!"

Then I copied the text in the box "Hotlink for forums (2)".

(Actually you only need the second string starting with http so for example the box contains the text:

]

You would copy only this part: http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/7448/allthis.jpg

You do that by highlighting the text (left click at start of string holding button down while you slide the cursor over the text to be copied then release) then right-clicking on what you highlighted and select "Copy".

Right-click where you want your pic in your post, select "Paste" then highlight that string same as you did before then click on the "Img" button at the top. Then submit your post. There. I hope that explains it. I still need to learn how to resize a pic without cropping it but at least I got this part down. :-D

Test pic:

Is it possible to insert pictures without placing them at an external location?

I find it unreliable in the long term to depend on 3rd parties to host picture, but perhaps that is what has been decided is the way to go?

When posting, below the text box there is an option to "upload attachment" where you can insert an image directly. It says
"If you wish to attach one or more files enter the details below."
Click "Choose File"

I know, you'd think it would say something about images but thats what happens when programers design the interface, LOL

Thanks a lot for the clarification pops. I thought it would show as a file name under my comment.
