Hi meta, doom is all in your mind.

Be mindful of your thoughts Anakin. They'll betray you.

Hey! Me too! :)

I've been just looking around though, I left one of the other boards too but primarily because when I changed my email address I got locked out of my account and couldn't ever get back in, or ahold of anyone to fix it for me.

Nah, we have about 50 all you can eat buffets and lots of water left in Lake Mead, nothing to worry about here in Vegas, I suspect the farmers in the mid-west will be starving long before our 24/7 buffets shut down...

Heh.... well thanks for the welcome. I assure you, doom is all in my mind and all in my reality, because doom is what is coming. I'm here to help people here prepare for it and learn from some here. I've been at doom a long time, as I gather you have as well. ;)

Cheers

Do you really think of yourself as xenophobic? I struggle with this myself.. I actually love other cultures and traveling, but just want there to also be an America to come home to. So I'm anti-immigration and anti-offshoring, but I can't help but see my own contradictions. I just bought a $129 window AC unit for a small room in my house.. I'm pleased as punch to get things from China so cheaply. And last night I saw a good movie made in India, and the irony there is without globalism their movie industry probably wouldn't have taken off.

I also like a lot of Chinese films.. stuff like crouching tiger hidden dragon, and Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" -- heck, I love that movie so much it's almost worth the cost of globalism.

It is a fair question.

I might be a xenophobe, yes. Then again, I might just be a loner. How would one go about figuring it out? I don't mind other people, other cultures, other ways of doing things, but I certainly don't seek them out even when handed the opportunity.

there is a difference between travelling and exploring other cultures and giving away your own, dont you think.

Hello from Massachusetts

Unread postby BasilBoy » Mon 23 Aug 2010, 13:32:32

Hello all,

I heard about peak oil quite a while ago from a tin-foil hat type, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Only recently have I studied it, as part of my due diligence for trying to figure out what to do with what little wealth I have left. I'm not feeling overly warm and fuzzy lately as a result of what I have learned.

I don't have anyone in my circle of family of friends to discuss peak oil (or other important issues really). My circle tends not to care or they are too busy to follow. When I try to bring up this sort of stuff, I usually have to deal with demonstrative anger or raised eyebrows as if I've lost my mind (which maybe I have...lol). So, I thought I'd join this site in an effort to find like-minded folk.

I hope all are well...

Steve :)

If you want to discuss peakoil then I suggest going to theoildrum.com or elsewhere.

Almost nobody here actually discusses peak oil here.

Actually most of the discussion here is worthless.
How can Ludi spend 8-10 hrs/day on the internet and claim to be homesteading???
