On other websites where this development has happened it has usually led to the rise of many, short one-liner posts. People don't usually say a lot from a phone. PO.com has always been a different website because people post long thought out views. I wonder if it will change into something more like a twitter feed as far as the reading experience goes (which is a bad thing).

My server found it automatically through chrome this morning oz time. I won't use any app which requires completely unnecessary permissions, as does this one. Isn't there an ethical server available that doesn't require access to just about everything on your phone?

Please feel free to peruse the source code for the open source Android app. There is nothing unethical about it. In fact, I just fixed some bugs, cleaned up the user interface and removed some unnecessary permissions.

I guess I'm getting old or just old fashioned. I still don't own a smartphone. My portable device is my laptop with a wireless modem. But I don't carry it with me everywhere I go! lol

Between my land line phone and the wireless modem, I spend roughly $105/mo for communications.

Well I decided to opt in at least to try it out, massive improvements. Way faster, way more stable, modern look & feel. Definitely reckon once it bites in it will replace the old set up. Well done peeps!

Do you have to sign up with the same username/password as po.com? I have made a couple of posts and they say something about waiting for mod approval.

We're ignoring you, or, maybe I should say we are still ruminating.

Truth is we kinda frown on people having multiple accounts, we've had some bad experiences with sockpuppets. And besides it is just confusing in a conversation if you aren't sure who you're talking to.

But since we have no way to know if a cell IP does or doesn't go with "regular" IP we don't have a way to check... so we're dragging our feet.

I'll make an interim executive decision:
Best thing right now is to use your regular username if you have one,
2nd best is to tell us in your first post who you are if you want to use a different handle

That is fine, I didn't know how it worked when I signed up on Tapatalk. I was thinking I could log into each different internet forum separately. So do all posts from Tapatalk need moderator approval for every post?

Looks like what Pops said went over your head. Permissions are restricted to one account per user. I don't like the fact tapatalk demands ID access, like just about all apps, but at least it doesn't demand access to text & contacts & browsing history like 'Candy Crush' moron food apps do. Once logged in properly the app is very functional, lightening fast.

You assumed it did but I didn't give post all the facts. I am guessing from your response that you don't need mod approval if you use the same username when signed into Tapatalk. That was my question, don't be coy.

Anyway, I signed up with one username and found it required mod approval so I changed my username to be the same as PO.com and it still required mod approval. It did warn me that I needed to restart the app or something like that which is a bit trickier than opening/closing a browser for a plugin. I'll test it out again when I get back on a table/phone.

Might be the memory of different login creates an issue, sounds like they are onto it & will sort you out.

Yes, I logged in with my normal ID straight off & it works a treat, no stalls or blocks.

Perhaps try clearing your browser, in case the login conflict is at your end, then relog in with reset details as per your original account. If that doesn't work, the site side will have to fix.

Only a new member's first post needs approval (when registering either normally or taptak), mainly because spammers just can't help but put a link in that very first post, so if you don't do it then you probably won't.

Thanks. Test post, no mod approval.

Edit: it worked just like you said except I still need to figure out why the name change isn't showing.
