Al-Mayadeen in ruins as locals speak of the horror of living with Islamic State – video
By Leith Fadel - 16/10/20170

Locals in Al-Mayadeen have spoken of the horror of living with Islamic State after the terror group was routed from one of its last strongholds by Syrian and allied forces.

Footage shot on Sunday showed the city in ruins with huge caches of weapons left behind by feeling IS fighters.

Locals spoke of being thrown in jail for smoking one cigarette, having beard stubble or not wearing the correct clothing.

Russian Defence Ministry Spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov confirmed the city was retaken during a successful offensive operation carried out by Syrian government troops.....

So much for all powerful Allah being on their side. Every few days they still publish videos of themselves beheading & otherwise murdering bound men. I feel sorry for the poor bastards being killed by these scumdogs in their last throes.

Hey MBS, do you have any comments on Iran's contribution to destroying ISIL?

A Sputnik correspondent tells the story of Syrian Arab Army General Issam Zahreddine, who has been recently killed in a mine blast. The general defended Deir ez-Zor, once besieged by Daesh, and was known by servicemen as a true hero.

News of the death of Syrian Arab Army General Issam Zahreddine has spread like wildfire among Syrians. For more than three years, Zahreddine was responsible for the defense of Deir ez-Zor, once besieged by Islamic State (also commonly referred to as ISIL, ISIS or Daesh in Arabic) terrorists, and died in a mine blast after the blockade was lifted.

Servicemen and everybody who knew him describe him as a true hero.

"Albu Kamal is free of the Daesh organisation," said the commander in the military alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

On Wednesday, after a month's-long advance through central and eastern Syria, the Syrian army and allied Shi'ite militias encircled and attacked the town in eastern Syria, close to Iraq's border.

The attack was spearheaded by the paramilitary wing of Lebanon-based Islamist militant group, Hezbollah.

As IS loses it's last stronghold, thanks largely to Iran backed militia, is it not time a slightly different tack was taken in diplomacy towards Iran & the Shia nations in general? Or is it "Israel's enemy is our enemy & besides they want to nuke us"?

Russian jets flying out the Hmaymim Military Airport in Jableh, Latkia carried out several airstrikes over the Idlib countryside last night, targeting the defenses of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham along the Idlib-Hama axis.

According to a report from the Syrian military, the Russian Air Force carried out more than 20 airstrikes on the Idlib Governorate towns of Sukayk and Tarii, inflicting heavy damage on Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s defenses.

In addition to striking the Idlib Governorate, the Russian Air Force also launched attacks on the Hama Governorate towns of Al-Jizdaniyah, Al-Tinah, and Qasr ibn Wardan.

Last night’s attack by the Russian Air Force was launched ahead of the upcoming Syrian Arab Army (SAA) offensive to retake
the Abu Dhuhour Military Airport in the eastern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

Tracking the declines in ISIS oil production

Unread postby AdamB » Mon 13 Nov 2017, 20:07:16

Oil has been a key revenue source for ISIS, yet new data shows that production has steadily declined in areas under the group's control. Historically, it has been difficult to get an accurate measure of ISIS's oil production. Past estimates extrapolated from chance observations at a small number of production sites — typically wherever journalists have had a source or intelligence documents have been seized. But that is like counting employees at a few McDonalds locations to draw conclusions about the number of workers across the fast food industry. Keep reading 146 words To arrive at a more precise figure, my colleagues and I developed a tool, as reported in a recent paper, that uses satellite imagery to evaluate in real time all 42 of the oil production sites once controlled by ISIS. The results show that

VICTORY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOAtz8xWM0w
“All of the IS [the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL)] band groups on the territory of Syria were defeated,” claimed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia at the annual foreign military briefing in Moscow on Wednesday.

Valery Gerasimov, who is also the First Deputy Minister of Defence, went on to say that the international coalition led by the US could have had a greater input in defeating terrorists in Syria.

“Raqqa is the only city which was liberated by the coalition forces in 2017, the siege and storming of which was carried out within 11 months,” added Gerasimov.

If the British Foreign Secretary has anything to do with it , they won't be going back to Britain.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42260814
The UK will "bring destruction" to those who fight for so-called Islamic State, the defence secretary has said.

Gavin Williamson said British armed forces were "making sure terrorists have nowhere to hide" across the globe.

Speaking at the commissioning of the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth, he said UK forces were driving IS out of Iraq and Syria.

He earlier told the Daily Mail: "Quite simply, my view is a dead terrorist can't cause any harm to Britain."

Mr Williamson had said no British citizen who has fought for so-called Islamic State should be allowed back into the UK.

At least 800 Britons have gone to Syria and Iraq to fight for IS and 130 of those have been killed in conflict.

Britain is a country of laws. Ministerial rhetoric will not override the Court. Keeping Citizens from returning can only be done by either extra judicial killing, or by cancellation of Passports, either action will result in court action & intervention. This guy has to be a simpleton.

Dictator Erdogans invasion Army into Syria is ready!

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/us-cal ... rin-125973
The U.S. State Department on Jan. 18 urged Turkey not to take any action in northern Syria, calling on Ankara to remain focused on the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

At a news briefing, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the U.S. wanted Turkey to abstain from violence in the northwestern city of Afrin.

“We would call [...] on the Turks to not take any actions of that sort,” Nauert said.

“We don’t want them to engage in violence but we want them to keep focused on ISIS,” she said, using another acronym for ISIL.

Turkish ground troops have crossed into northern Syria as part of Ankara's campaign to rid the border area of Kurdish fighters, Turkey's PM says.

Binali Yildirim said the aim was to establish a 30km (19-mile) "safe zone" deep inside Syria, Turkish reports say.

But the Kurdish YPG militia says it has repelled Turkish troops in Afrin.

AMASCUS, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Pro-Syrian government forces have targeted the path of a Turkish military convoy in the southern countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syrian, a monitor group reported on Tuesday.

The Turkish military convoy was moving toward the town of Eis in southern Aleppo when the pro-government forces hit the convoy, prompting the Turkish military vehicles and accompanied forces to withdraw to the western countryside of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

A large Turkish army military convoy consisting of armored vehicles has had a Syrian army artillery barrage fired just ahead of its advance route in southwest Aleppo province as it was en-route to the strategic area of Tal Al-Eis on Sunday night.

Erdo-turd gets only part of the blame. Uncle Scumbag gets at least half. As part of the obsession with getting rid of the Syrian government, the USA decided to move on to the Kurd minority as its main proxy after the "moderates" failed. Turkey sees a Kurd state east of the Euphrates as a threat since eventually the Kurds could actually make a claim on their homeland inside Turkey. At the very least, a Kurdish state carved out of northern Syria would serve as a base for guerrilla activity inside Turkey.

The Europeans and the USA could have helped the Kurds establish a homeland after WWI when the Ottoman Empire collapsed. Instead they shafted them and engaged in all sorts of nonsensical Rwanda-Burundi style carve-ups such as Kuwait-Iraq, etc.

I Fought ISIS with the Kurds In Syria. This Is What It Was Like
Robert Amos

I dropped out of school to join the fight against tyranny. I learned much more than I had expected.

I had been there for almost six months fighting ISIS alongside Kurdish soldiers. A year before, I had been a graduate student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem studying politics and sociology. But after I saw the horrible images of the rape and destruction of Yazidi communities in Iraq, and without any previous military training, I put down my studies and went to Syrian Kurdistan to fight.

I was not alone in this. There were many foreign fighters participating in the Kurdish struggle, and we were now on our way back home, waiting at a transit camp in the beautiful forested mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan. Zagros, who temporarily helped run the camp, was a local and an experienced fighter. As we stepped outside the tent, he told me that his village used to be home to many Jews...
