Hello forum members, I am new here and wanted to say hi to everyone.

I have been aware of Peak Oil since about 2003, and have lurked here and previously TOD on and off for a number of years as things have progressed. The one thing that has taken me by surprise is the drop in oil prices recently.

I hope I can gain some useful knowledge and hopefully be helpful to others.

I actually came up with the name after hearing the Paul Simon song 'Boy in the bubble', and discovered the Automatic Earth website (which I do read, btw) afterwards .

Price collapse under demand destruction was an idea I first stumbled on here from Pops around 2008, price dynamics having been discussed at length over the years shouldn't be too huge a surprise.

Thanks SeaGypsy - I was not expecting a price quite like the one we've had. Admittedly I haven't read that set of threads so guess I need to do more reading .

AE - Two different ways to look at it. Yes...a big price drop. OTHO the inflation adjusted price of oil is still higher then the long term average. IOW oil prices are LOWER...not LOW.
