Amusing rumor I heard through the grape vine! "Pelosi has timed this so the Senators running for the nomination will all miss early primary appearences clearing the field for Biden/Buttegiege ticket to sweep an early lead.

That would not be surprising at all. In fact I was postulating with the Wife yesterday we would see a B/B ticket. If not Biden the Bloomberg.

And the timing you mention is just about correct. Immediately after the debate and then tying them up running into the early primaries.

McConnell is open to the idea of “witness reciprocity” floated by Cruz and Paul. If the Dems want a witness, the the R’s get to call a witness. This could make the impeachment a long process.

I wonder what Bernie and Betty think about that. And Nancy.

Drag it out and keep them in DC?

I don't see all the big hoopla. The Senate Republicans can just vote 'No'. What are they afraid of? The Truth? When did that matter?

The time for witnesses was in the House but Dems were in too big of a hurry to obtain witnesses using the legal process. McConnell is not going to do what Pelosi failed to do.

HALL OF SHAME:
-Short welched on a bet and should be shunned.

No it doesn't tell the half of it. The president must certify that foreign aid money is not furthering corruption. That is also the law. It was perfectly appropriate for the president to request an investigation into suspected corruption, before he certifies that is won't go to corrupt politicians.

It wasn't an investigation. It was extortion. Thank you, play again.

A government organization has an opinion. That's NOT "saying it all".

And, the OMB disagrees. And since the OMB has 529 employees, it's not like Trump speaks for that entire organization.

Just citing a headline and claiming it "says it all" to score political points is similar to the economic stats games Armageddon plays to try to score doom points.

Again, I'm no Trump fan, but the discussion on such issues should run a lot deeper than "tastes great" vs "less filling".

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/16/trump-a ... e-aid.html

OMB spokeswoman Rachel Semmel, said, “We disagree with GAO’s opinion.”

“OMB uses its apportionment authority to ensure taxpayer dollars are properly spent consistent with the President’s priorities and with the law,” Semmel said.

A senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said, “GAO’s findings are a pretty clear overreach as they attempt to insert themselves into the media’s controversy of the day.”

And note that this is CNBC, which has very often been very much against Trump on many controversies, for years, and seems to try to provide at least reasonably balanced reporting overall, especially compared to much of the MSM, growing audiences via telling them what they want to hear (with, for example, FOX News and MSNBC being, IMO, among the most flagrant of MSM outlets).
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

Of course they do, because they're the ones being implicated along with Trump. It's like claiming OJ is innocent simply because he says he is.

Why isn't Russian collusion in the articles of impeachment? For three years you on the left promised me that Trump was compromised by the Russians. How did that turn out for you? Why should I believe anything a government agency claims? Did we not just find out how thoroughly corrupt the FBI is?

Maybe, because you can't read:

The GAO, a nonpartisan congressional watchdog, said in a decision issued Thursday that the White House budget office violated the Impoundment Control Act, a 1974 law that limits the White House from withholding funds that Congress has appropriated.

It says 'nonpartisan' and 'watchdog'. It identifies its core "mission values" as: accountability, integrity, and reliability :-)

This is very different than the mission of the other agencies, including the Department of Justice, which is now completely, 100%, political.

ASG,

What is your plan of action in the event Trump is re-elected. Assume it is a clear majority, no controversy over the results.

Corruption only matters to a liberal when it's not a liberal involved. Funny how that works.

the country is already overflowing with sanctimonious, woke, left-leaning weenies, our Prime Minister being the biggest one. Please do not send us your tired, or your poor, or your retched masses and you can certainly keep the wretched refuse of your teeming shore!

But, Trump is NOT popular. He just has a small group of fanaticals that ignore his transgressions of reason, civility, comportment, consensus, etc. etc.

Even if he squeaked by, our government and our populous would still be divided.

Even if unlikely, the stakes are way higher this time, too.

Got to give those illegal aliens free health care. Those are the stakes the left are referring to.
