Only 5% of the world’s population have ever been on an airplane

Only 5% of the world’s population have ever been on an airplane thumbnail

Though the aviation sector is growing rapidly, according to the statistics only 5% of the world’s population has ever flown on an airplane. Many people, especially from the underdeveloped regions, have never ever been in an aircraft and it is not likely that they will have an opportunity to fly in all of their lives. However, at the same time a small minority of the world’s population fly very regularly.

After oil peaks, the cost of air travel will soar, ridership will plummet, the airlines will be unable to re-pay the trillions borrowed to expand their fleets, and the global financial system will collapse. Civil aviation is the canary in the coal mine of peak oil.

You don’t miss much not being on a plane. I hate it each time I have to travel on planes, what a hassle.

Over 2 billion people live on less than $2 a day……

The worlds poorest people are having the most children. They have not figured out the connection between their poverty and family size.

Kenz300 is a computer generated program, badly in need of an upgrade. It has been repeating the same 10 or so ‘messages’ for several years now.

Try your best to ignore it. Everybody else does.

I hated flying every time I’ve done it and I’m terrified by it. I haven’t flown on an aircraft in 27 years. I live in sight of the factory where Boeing airliners are built and I have all kinds of opportunities to fly. I would like to see stats on how many people there are like me who refuse to fly.

Boy, judging from the load factor and the expansion airports/airlines are currently undertaking we may soon reach 6 or 7% of the world’s population! I can tell you from experience . I took a greyhound bus from South Florida to Colorado decades ago.
Those that state they would rather not fly are massochists. There is no way I would rather take a bus than fly by jet!
The funny thing is when I hear folks whine about air travel! Pleaaase

What statistics? Could you give the source? Highly appreciated!

Joseph, I live in the Philippines and fly regularly. Over 80 flights in the last 10 years. I am currently in the Us. This trip requires eight separate flights to visit family. Eight times to remove belt and shoes, get x-rayed, put your carry-on thru the x-ray machine, get sniffed by drug dogs, etc.

I can say that flying is no longer fun. Coffin seats, poor food, high prices and the Us imposed “security” protocol at all airports, makes it a hassle. ‘Cattle lines’ and the next thing to a strip search at every airport. Take a short flight out of the Us sometime and learn what a police state really looks like.
