    Well, that was… pointless. There is a lot to say but that video didn’t do anything, really.

    As for Honolulu, I left there earlier this year. LOTS of construction. I would say “about time they fixed the housing issue” but just like everywhere else, they are building for the rich. Not just Yuppies, but actual rich people from around the world who want to have a second place in Hawaii.

    As for peak oil and Hawaii – right now, Hawaii as a whole is riding the gravy train. Not so much the homeless or poor people there, but with global wealth comes global tourism. Chinese and Koreans are adding to the usual Japanese and Americans. It will last as long as it can last, that’s all I can say about that. The aftermath with be decidedly unpretty.

    I look around and I see this in many places. Seattle too. Lots of construction and business. Maybe it goes on for another 50 years, maybe 5. I keep thinking “this is insane” but it just keeps going, just as it has for decades. Growth to the very limits. 2008 disrupted my life, but on a global scale it hardly registers as a speed bump.
