Peak Oil: Pellet Stove

Pellet stoves or pellet furnaces are a great alternative to using home heating oil. When the price of home heating oil rises, it’s ideal to have another method to heat your home. Using solar thermal collectors is also ideal if you heat your home with hot water going through the radiators or flooring.

The only problem is that pellet stoves need electricity to run the screw drive. As batteries improve, and you can get a 1 week charge for the stove, then it is viable.

In my area we get power failures more then once a year, so a wood stove that does not require electricity would be ideal.

But, there are double pane vacuum windows that rate R16, that would be a better investment, if you could Buy Them!

It takes energy to make pellets and transport plus the noted electricity in the comment above. Solar thermal is not green, “renewable” or sustainable. Peak Oil, Pellet Stoves is an advertisement?

It still produces CO2, plus there’s external costs.
