China Has Just Created an Artificial ‘Star’

Alternative Energy

EAST is a fusion reactor in China, which can reach temperatures over six times hotter than the core of the sun. And it is the key to sustainable energy.

Imagine if we could replace fossil fuels with our very own stars. And no, we’re not talking about solar energy, but actual nuclear fusion. Recent research is helping us get there. We are talking about the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, or EAST. EAST is a fusion reactor based in Hefei, China.

Creating our own domesticated stars

The fusion reactor can now reach temperatures over six times hotter than the sun. Let’s take a look at how it works. Fusion occurs when two light atoms combine into a single, heavier one, and releases energy. It sounds simple enough, but it’s pretty hard to achieve. Why? Because these two atoms both have a positive charge. And just like opposing magnets, these positive atoms push against each other.

The stars, like our own sun, have a great way to counteract this force. Their massive size creates enormous pressure in their core, which forces the atoms to move closer to each other, making them more likely to collide. There’s just one problem: that kind of insane pressure is not something we have the technology to recreate at the moment.

Luckily, there’s another way. It’s also possible to generate fusion reactions with extreme temperatures. And that’s exactly what contraptions like EAST are designed to do. The higher the temperature, the faster the atoms move and the more likely they are to collide.

But it quickly becomes a balancing act. If the temperature is too high, the atoms move too fast and cross each other. If it’s too cold, the atoms are not moving fast enough to fuse. So, the ideal temperature to engender fusion is around 100 million degrees Celsius. That’s over six times hotter than the core of our sun.

Only a few fusion experiments in the world have gone beyond this stage. And the latest is that of the EAST. It resulted in nuclear fusion for about 10 seconds before stopping. Although it was a breakthrough for EAST, it is far from generating sustainable energy for us on Earth.

A high investment, but for higher benefits

EAST is a tiny reactor only a few meters in diameter. It’s not designed to be a full-fledged power plant. It’s an experiment. And for now, its job is to help us design more efficient fusion technology that could one day power entire cities.

Just like the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), the largest fusion energy project in the world to date. Thirty-five countries have invested billions of pounds in its construction. And it’s designed to be the first fusion reactor to produce more fusion energy than the energy used for the initial heat.

These machines need a lot of energy to be able to function. The recent EAST test, for example, consumed more than 10 megawatts of power. That’s enough to power over 1.500 British homes for a year. And EAST didn’t produce even half that.

But it’s worth it. Why? First of all, because fusion reactors would produce nearly no radioactive waste compared to the type of reaction observed in current nuclear fission power plants. Fusion reactors can also run on seawater—an eminently renewable and sustainable resource.

The amount of water that sits within Lake Erie is enough to produce more energy than any fossil fuel on the planet combined. And unlike other energy sources, it doesn’t require the sun to shine or the wind to blow. Just plain old human ingenuity

In a time of dwindling resources and worsening climate change, we could certainly use such a boon.

What an interesting bit of PRO China news. But then we already know who is the tech leader today and it ain’t Amerika or the EU. Hint: Asia.

Ten seconds of power! WOW! What about the other 31,535,990 seconds in a year? Blackout? Ten megawatts consumed for 10 seconds of sun power. Sounds promising. LMAO!

The techies are really into those fantasy dreams these days. But the real world will continue as always.

Makati gets his knickers wet because something promising comes out of China.

What does this message show us?

    – that China needs to be taken serious, for sure
    – that fusion still doesn’t work, that you still need more energy input than you get out.
    – but the hallelujah-article doesn’t make clear what exactly the supposed breakthrough is. All around the world they are able to produce fusion energy for a few seconds.

I’m absolutely not saying fusion won’t work, some day. Perhaps it will, perhaps it won’t.

If it works, we’ll have infinite energy, and we can take down all those solar panels and wind turbines and hydrogen storage facilities.

But it doesn’t work, not yet, perhaps never.

Hence, get braced for at least 50 years of renewable energy, while working in parallel on fusion. Because wind and solar do work. The #1 country in technology and world export champ Germany already works for 50%+ on solar and wind and still has one of the most stable grids in the world.

“But then we already know who is the tech leader today and it ain’t Amerika or the EU. Hint: Asia.”

    Really?

Chinese folks are excellent at patiently doing hard work for little money, slave labor. They control world markets for most of the stuff between 0-1000 euro. But that’s about it. They still can’t produce a plane that can compete on world markets, or even a car.

The ADAC is a German equivalent of the US AAA (“yellow angels”). For the first time China is offering a e-car for under 10k euro, the Suda SA01:

    https://www.adac.de/rund-ums-fahrzeug/autokatalog/marken-modelle/auto/suda-sa01/

For some reason they managed to get through the admission test (in small numbers only), but the ADAC says this car should never have gotten this admission as it is completely unsafe. Quality is terrible.

Regarding the impressive Chinese high speed rail network, they could not have achieved that without decisive European technological support (and Bombardier of Quebec).

Chinese are very good at disciplined LABOR. Perhaps someday at quality as well. Or innovation. I absolutely do not want to denigrate China. What they have achieved over the past 30 years is impressive. But they are still NOT top of the bill in terms of R&D. It’s the factory of the world. But they achieved that because the self-styled (((masters of the world))) in Washington went along with that, as part of their One World design. But China won’t get that free pass much longer. China is becoming too strong. Even their supposed ally Russia is getting nervous.

But it is probably already too late, the Chinese cat is out of the bag. Poor Australia. And America is teetering on the brink of CW2. Europe, that just got rid of the British anti-Europeans, is quietly moving away from post-WW2 vassalage and many are making eyes to Russia.

The writing is on the wall. The 21st century will be dominated by Greater Europe and China (“New Silk Road”), who will be both competitors for world markets but also partners as the guardians of the coming identitarian multi-polar world order that is going to replace the One World designs of Uncle Schmull.

You are right, mr Haass, we in Eurasia no longer take the US serious as a global hegemon.

China is moving forward. The US, and the West, is regressing. I see it all the time, because I don’t pay attention to USMSM propaganda.

I am opting to get a Chinese or Russian vaccine, if I am forced to take one, but you could not pay me to take one made in the US or EU. They are so faulty that the government had to make them immune to lawsuits for the damage they are and will cause in the future. Not in my body, thanks!

BTW: Europe is NOT going to be more than a bit player in the future. It is obvious that it will break up into a lot of quarreling, declining, nation-states with huge debts and zero growth, just more and more immigrants with bad habits. just like Amerika! LMAO!

You’re not a white guy, but deceiving us with your fake identity. Nobody would gloat about the demise of his own country, unless you have no serious ties with it.

The EU is NOT a quarreling set of nations, only Britain was and would love to be the ticking time bomb under Europe. WW1 = WW2 = Brexit, but thanks to a stroke of incredible luck, we got rid of them, after a local populist Farage wrong-footed the entire Westminster establishment and achieved what the majority of the older population always wanted, but smarter Westminster knew to prevent: an exit from the European project… paving the way for a Russian entry to the Common European Home, guaranteeing the return of Europe to planetary pole position, now not as a set of 5-6 competing mid-sized nations, like between 1492-1945, but united, this time including Germany, Italy and Russia and without England. And easy military access to England via EU-member Scotland. Unbeatable.

The only thing that will be demolished indeed is the UK, not the EU.

Europe = German-French axis and the rest will follow. No signs that that axis is about to break.

Just read this to understand why Scotland will almost certainly rejoin the EU after getting independent of London, possibly even as early as this year:

“I am opting to get a Chinese or Russian vaccine”

According to this headline, the Chinese vaccin Sinovac is a debacle:

    https://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/corona-impfstoffe-chinas-vakzine-debakel-a-66c7adf3-b8bd-459a-9137-cb3116fa262d

    https://apnews.com/article/philippines-coronavirus-pandemic-asia-east-asia-china-d1c9cc500f55ce317b942b981e3dbd14

“The Philippines has been negotiating with seven Western and Chinese companies to secure 148 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine but the effort has been fraught with uncertainties and confusion. About 50,000 doses from China-based Sinovac Biotech Ltd. may arrive later next month followed by much larger shipments, according to the government, but concerns have been raised over its efficacy.”

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-01-22/china-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-equity-sinovac-sinopharm/13066856

“But there are still many significant unknowns about the Chinese vaccine candidates.

None have had stage 3 trial data subjected to peer review.”

    China uber Alles, right?

I will postpone vaccination as long as possible, perhaps even never, unless they begin with demanding corona passports in restaurants or trains or hotels. Don’t care about planes, if I can avoid vaccination by avoiding them. My remedies:

    1. Probably already had it in March and could easily deal with it, enduring a 5-day flu with mild symptoms. Perhaps I’m already immune.
    2. Strengthening my immune system: keeping BMI22 and cold shower every day and 1 hour jogging/day
    3. Practice relative social distancing for a long time to come until the pandemic is really over.
    4. Supplements like vitamin D and health food only

  6. makati1 on Fri, 22nd Jan 2021 3:54 pm

I prefer as real vaccine, not a gene altering drug. The US has NOT proved their vaccines are even safe, let alone effective. If the US vaccines are safe, why the legal immunity? Because they kill people? Dah!

You post USMSM propaganda sites as proof of what? Your inability to even think for yourself? I prefer other sites with alternate and usually truthful info. You are obviously so brainwashed that truth is not even in your vocabulary. LOL

BTW: Here in the Philippines, there are several vaccines available from Russia and China, and even the West. You can take your pick. But I will still resist until forced, if ever, to take one. I already had the flu this year. Christmas to New Years. No need for any flu shot. I have not had a flu shot in at least 20 years and I have had the flu several times since then. I am still here. I didn’t even need a doctor. ^_^

    CORRECTION! “I prefer A real vaccine,…”
