I've got torrents up for both Arithmetic, Population and Energy (it's only the 400Meg version, but it beats a blank), and End of Suburbia at the following link. They're both AVI versions. I'll try to leave the tracker up for at least a few days. If anyone knows of a public tracker I can post them to please let me know, as I can't leave this one up all the time. And please leave your torrents running for at least a day or so after your download is finished to help with seeding :!: :!: :-D :-D

Follow up:

got the DVD/Book package in the mail. Good stuff!

He's giving the lecture to a class of students. When he uses the overhead transprencies, the video goes to a powerpoint slide on the DVD. Excellent quality, highly recommended.

first time i've seen this link. i will (attempt to) download as soon as i get home. i'm excited to share it with my wife... if i miraculously get the whole thing tonite i'll make many copies and hand it out to many friends at our big annual camping trip this weekend.

Anyone familiar with the Fibonacci sequence? Not having seen the video, the description of exponential growth reminds me of that. A population with no predators will expand at a rate of roughly 1.618 (theta, the golden ration) times per generation. and as was pointed out by johnmarkos, since there are 1.618 times more people in generation next than generation before, when generation before dies off, we still have more than when we started...

Gosh I hate you! I would love to meet Bartlett.

My students find his video to be one of the better ones.

Very well done video. Thanks!

He concludes PO in 2004. In any case, it's 1 minute to 12:00.

Even with all this information, it's hard to get your mind around the fact that this is going on RIGHT NOW.

In a nutshell, the litre per person number is going to drop since the population isn't going anywhere soon. The first to lose out are the poor countries. Which by the way, is going on NOW.

after watching the 1st half of the video:

i'm loving it. i see his arguments as rock solid. i don't, however, think this will be useful for someone without a mathematical brain. most of us here probably have that. but many people just don't think logarithmic math and calculus is at all simple, and i think they would be overwhelmed and choose not to continue. so far, i think this is a great lecture--for the right types of people.

looking forward to the 2nd half. glad, at least for now and the next 35 minutes, that i have NOTHING to do at work today except wait.

I just found a transcript (i think thats what it is called?) with figures and all! It's really good if there's something you did not understand in the video.
