It should be possible, theoretically at least, to download the clip using Streambox VCR. Do a search for Streambox VCR Suite 2.
If the wait gets far too annoying, and you'd like to see it in good quality, it can be bought on DVD here:
http://scimath.unl.edu/exp/expmain.html

No online ordering though... Damn. And they don't accept credit cards either.

Was finally able to download and view the video.

Wow, if that doesn't catch your attention nothing will. He said something like, to be sustainable, every person must use less than 1.7 liter of oil a day. Gulp.

Too bad he wasn't included in The End of Suburbia. Would have made it a lot more effective.

No offense to the End of the Suburbia, but I thought the same thing. His presentation is probably more likely to catch the attention of the average person. Plus he really gets to the heart of the matter: the real problem is exponential growth. Now it's oil, but it could just as easily be something else like water.

In case anyone is still interested, the ED2K link for this file is still valid.

I have uploaded about 1 GB already. As far as I can tell, there are only 6 complete sources worldwide, and there are currently about 20 people on my queue.

Will continue to help to spread this for a while longer. Now that's P2P for a good cause

Files on the ED2K network have a much longer shelf life than torrents. Help spread the word!

This video seriously made my day. It distroys any delusional optimism about growing forever, living on Mars and having flying cars!!!!!!!!! Thank you mother nature.

Now when people piss me off about endless growth I can talk about grains of wheat on a chess board and totally distroy their delusional behavior.

Finally!

What an excellent video!

I've always understood the power of doubling, but I'd completely forgotten about the significance of the exponential function and the types of calculations that could be made with it (what can I say, it's been awhile since school - speaking of doubling... and then some... ).

Talk about an eye-opener... 8O

If there's anyone else that wants to see this video but is having trouble with the stream or with grabbing it thru p2p, message me with a day and timeframe during which you'd like to download it and I will send you a link where you can get it from my machine. It's about 400 Megs; shouldn't take more than a few hours on a cable connection. :)

Could the person(s) who have the entire file please log on to Emule? It's been more than 38 hours since the file was last seen complete. Thank you! :)

There should be at least 6 complete sources on ED2K. PM me your emule userID if you like, if I see you I can give you a friend slot - guaranteed transfer, skip the queue ..

This is a great video for getting people to wake up and pay attention. I think I'll use it as a starting point after someone "takes the red pill" and asks for more information. I had been using Beyond Suburbia for that task, but a lot of people refused to watch the whole thing since it wasn't a happy, mindless, Hollywood movie, and there's only depressing news for the first one hour and two minutes.

Bartlett keeps things moving, though, and doesn't even pause to take a breath through his whole speech. Plus, he uses examples of the news articles we see every day telling us not to worry, and promptly debunks them.

This same lecture, in high quality video, with good graphics and animations for all his slides is available on DVD from the University of Nebraska here:

In my opinion, this video is far superior to "Suburbia."

Having no pretty pictures, music, or any other unnecessary shit made it awesome already, but the overall structure and order, along with the quality of the actual narration, made it even more engaging. It closed with a solid ending with a very valuable tip: don't let people do thinking for you. The guy's relief jokes were pretty funny. "If you've thought about getting gallbladder surgery, do it now." "Anyone here for promoting disease?" This is not only pretty funny shit when it's in context, but it also provides some relief and entertainment for those who prefer it.

It actually makes "Suburbia" look like a piece of shit, really. I'd recommend this as primary introduction material, and it's probably a good idea to watch the video a few times in order to get all of the details.

Wow, I guess y'all liked that one. With the kind of response it's gotten, I wonder if it's possible to burn it to a VCD and hand it out to people to play in their computers or DVD players. Anybody have a copy that can be transcoded to .vob format or something like that? I hand stuff like this out to people all the time. I'd be sure to have ten copies or so floating around in my backpack for slow days.

No way. That's cool. How many have you handed out? Do you write www.peakoil.com on the DVD when you hand them out?
