Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the option for ammunition and precious metals? I don't think this poll is going to make the doomers happy...

Seriously. When did this whole 'retiring' thing get started? Exactly. Thats where it will end too. Retiring is a Petroleum-Man invention. Soon we will revert to the norm.

I suspect many here have their retirement $$ spread around quite a few of the places mentioned in the poll, as well as a few not mentioned. Pension, SS, 401K, real estate, IRA's, and savings constitute my wobbly five legged financial platform. I hope at least half of them remain intact another few decades.

Not much use if you can't choose more than one answer.

I don't have any yet, since I'm still a student. My investments for retirement will be the same as my regular investments: oil services, precious metals, some of the more promising 'green' companies, a farm eventually, and learning lots of new, useful skills for the post PO era. I therefore chose 'Other'

I think a very important retirement investment not mentioned in the poll that has been the #1 retirement plan throughout eseentially all of human history is "children." That's my retirement plan: invest enough love in my kid so that I get a return on my investment when I'm too old to provide for myself.

you're missing one important theorem on investemnts I've known about since my days at university.

Basically the theorem is "ya can marry more money in 5 minutes, than you can make in a lifetime"

That has been my long term investment strategy, but alas I have not been able to find that elusive 18 year babe with a trust fund that is wiiling to support me in the lifestyle I so richly deserve!

No option for government bailout. Where do U think all those gas taxes go? Road construction?

If any taxes do go into road construction they are a complete waste of money, hard wiring us into profligate oil use.

Retirement? I'm going to work until I die. Probably in some government run slave-labor camp for dissidents

I am 71 and retired. My retirement nestegg is stored in a self-controlled IRA. I invest that money primarily in GLD, gold producers, and alt-energy producers. My goal is that it have sufficient "value" to support me and my wife over the next 10 to 15 years. Inflation is my biggest worry. sjp

I don't think the lack of oil will cause the doom.

I think fighting over the oil with other countries will bring about the problems.

So my investment of choice was survival gear,
and long shelf life food and water storage away from a major US city
and outside the direct fallout path of any major US base.

So if and when Russia jumps in the middle of this for whatever reason,
I will be heading away from the cities to a extreme rural area and ride out WW3.

During the bosnian war a F117 was shot down and its stealth tech was added to the kh-55 to make a stealth cruise missle.

This missile is on all their ships and subs, and
the bear bombers as well.

So to sum it up, radar invisibile , terrain hugging, passive avoidance, and carries
a 200 Kilo-ton nuclear warhead.

They have a half a dozen or more per plane,
sub, and ship.

I don't know if they will jump in because of
Iran, or will wait til we try to screw them on
the new Arctic oil find.

I was really worried when someone tried to
kill putin and his new replacement.

Fortunately nothing pointed at outside
agents of influence.

This general's statements still make me take
this issue seriously.

And some of putin's more recent statements:
