Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

May I offer this very educational link that I found listed on the fiendsuperbear page:
http://www.cornerstoneri.com/comments/TrillionDollarSecret.htm

Explains bank derivatives and such to the layman (that's me!). The banks may be in more trouble than anyone will admit. But, as with all these things, we'll have to wait and see... However, I put my vote on the last tick. I'd put money down, but can't because, as with most USA'rs, I don't have a dime to spare!

U'd never guess anything was wrong in Silicon Valley. 5% housing inflation, 10% rent inflation, Web 2.0 boom.

Just a note on the "clean out your bank account". If your bank is anything link mine, you can only take out $5,000 in cash at a time... not that many have that much available on demand, but something worth keeping in mind.

Well.
I voted for serrious. Think it will take a couple years for the problems due to excessive leveraging to play out. Still have several years before PO makes its impact felt though.

the powers that be are going to delay this crash for as long as is humanly possible (and possibly even longer)

the crash is coming, hard its just hard to say how soon it will hit, but once it does , its going to hurt just about everyone

best thing i can recommend is learn to live without buying loads of stuff now, so life doesnt have to teach you later

consumerism as we know it today is going to get squeezed hard

I'm thinking assess your situation, consult the 5-rules thread and come up with a plan.

Or sit there and fiddle.

It definitely feels like a lot of money is getting created without any production. The day spas, political consultants, energy consultants, Web 2.0 effects consultants, twinky routers, orange juice delicatessens & other completely worthless businesses R still making tons of money with no customers.

I voted to clean out your bank account now, based on the lack of knowledge as to which banks are in trouble, especially the smaller ones who could be at risk from construction loans. I agree that the ultimate crash will take a while to play out, maybe after elections, but maybe before.

I didn't vote, because the poll doesn't tell you if it refers to the US or to the worldwide economic.
(US- centered way of thinking!)

It is my understanding that they (the U.S. and the worlds) economies are so intertwined that if the U.S. fails, isn't the rest of the world bound to follow it over the cliff?

This is inline with the first comment made by Celtic Oil, the government is going to force the banks to put this back on their public balance sheets.

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/33cab6b4-31d1-11dd-b77c-0000779fd2ac.html?nclick_check=1

This will of course cause some problems for the banks as the article says, and loans will dry up for some of the banks due to the fact of what Celticoil says in his post.

This is just proof that what he said in the first comment is already coming home to roost.

I am amazed that they are allowed to remove these transactions from their books in the first place.

It smells like Enron all over again.
