We cannot drill our way out of this oil crisis. Since 2000, oil companies working in the U.S. have doubled the number of wells drilled per year.

Although increased drilling has added new oil to the nation's supply, it has not done so fast enough to offset the terminal decline of existing fields.

We are going to have to import more of our oil. Period.

This is a badly worded poll question. Do you mean:

1. Who do you think will win?

2. Which of the candidates do you want to win?

If you are intending number 2, then I might point out that you omitted the only candidate who has made a public acknowledgement of peak oil, Dennis Kucinich.

Honestly, I really don't care any more. I used to be really interested in politics, but now...I just don't see how any of these candidates (Ron Paul included) is going to make a difference. None of them seem to have a clue about the real problems we're facing.

And I find myself hoping the candidates that I like personally do not win, because whoever is in the White House is going to take the fall when TSHTF. And it looks more and more like it's going to happen in the term of our next president. If not a full-blown energy crisis or economic collapse, then at least a bad recession. Obama, Edwards, Hillary...they don't have a clue what they're in for, or they'd be running away, not running.

True, but it does make a difference who we choose to manage the collapse.

At this point, we are not choosing someone to "manage the collapse." We are choosing someone to take the blame for it. Whoever we elect after him (or her) will be the one managing the collapse. And he or she will likely be the polar opposite of whoever we elect this time.

If Hillary loses, the media will just cover her press conferences and ignore the white house, so it doesn't matter what the voters do.

Amazing Hussein Obama has the lead in the media now, with the donut tax increases, cuts to NASA, and hardly anything else known about him. If any country elects him, they probably deserve the consequences.

Kucinich gets my vote in the primary, because he's not taken in by biofuels or nuclear. Other than those two points, all democratic candidates have the exact same energy policy.

Kunstler likes Edwards. He thinks Edwards will kick Big Business' butt. Me, I kind of worry that Edwards will blame Big Oil rather the admitting we're at peak oil.

I have my doubts about whether Obama can win. Ditto Hillary. Democrats may support them, people may tell pollsters they'll vote for them, but in the privacy of the voting booth, I suspect a lot of people will find themselves unable to pull the lever for a black guy or a woman.

The huge number of votes for Ron Paul either suggests that Ron Paul has a big following among the membership here (not impossible) or that someone who was overly enthusiastic about the democratic process voted many times (more likely).

Doubt it. More likely is a group of 550 "pranksters" who think undermining the democratic process is the most fun thing to do by going to political sites and choose the most unlikely candidate just for fun.
There a huge followings of that in the Netherlands, who also harass people because their semi-political news site tells them to in the name of freedom of speech and that that person deserves it somehow, so maybe the U.S. has them now too?

Ron Paul has a huge internet following, and being as such is why someone or some people decided to flood him with votes. I personally don't think the current front runners differ on policy enough to have any impact on energy use, or where we are heading.

Kill, rape, torture, pillage, as time marches on
A vicious agenda de force
Neocon
Prize in sight, so we fight, and we pray that the kids are alright that we sent off to die
Letters sent from the base tell the tale that we face everyday but we tend to deny
That the cause is unjust so we must pray to god for the wrath is his will, so we kill
Branded weak are the sheep with no minds of their own
So they do what they're told, and they will
Thou shalt not fight for you!!!
US Uber Alles except for itself
A country divided by fascists and wealth
Begging for mercy, the truth never told
Families are broken, bodies are cold
Deaf, blind, all sides getting took for a ride
Being fed steady diets of grey
Death starved, so we dine up with a chill up the spine
As we drink it and wish it away
Such a price to endure all the theater of death has to give in the place where we live
Play god for the term play it well
Never learn, never will we forget or forgive

I would like Kucinich. He's the only one that sticks by his values, tells the truth even when it might be bad for him, and isn't bowing to corporations.

Paul would be interesting if we wanted a totally different country.

But the question is who will it be. My prediction Edwards-Obama.
