Just saw this program ("Crude": 8-10 P EST Jan 27), and it was simply the most well-done, informative, and attention-grabbing program I've seen related to peak oil concerns. This program should be endorsed and viewed by every single member of this site.
'An Inconvenient Truth' this isn't. It's also not 'Lost Worlds' or some other pompous History Channel program. It was concise, stuck to facts and experts, and the prduction values were excellent. 2 hours of enthralling oil and climate-related topicality.
See it. Spread it. It's important stuff.
I joined this site specifically to encourage the virality of the program. And no, I do not work for A&E Networks.

There's a thread about this show in the Current Energy News section. It includes a link where it can be viewed online. (Legally! It's originally an Australian documentary, and ABC Australia put it online.)

Definitely a good show for people will little knowledge about the industry.
the part I liked the most was the history of how global warming could have caused the creation of oil and that might be what the world is working towards again.

I think what you are talking about is the part where they say that the hot CO2-rich primordial climate conditions in which the small lifeforms that created oil dominated would be recreated by burning all their fossilized remains, and wind up wiping out higher life forms in the process. Full circle as it were.
If there is one documentary to show family and friends about PO/GW, this is it.

Hello all, I am a commercial real estate broker here in Atlanta, GA, and I too have never actively sought out an avenue, online or otherwise, to comment on something I've seen on TV. The program I saw last night, "Crude", is perhaps the most poignant, powerful, well produced piece of television I have ever seen. I am not (was not) and have never been any kind of activist, but this program has made me feel as if my eyes are now open. The show's information, delivery and overall concept is something that all people can, and should be cognitive of. I would like to do my part, and ask that The History Channel please air this again... air it everyday, I think it may be one of the most important shows ever made.

I saw this documentary ("Crude") on a Qantas flight a month ago and I found it utterly mind blowing.... and I thought I knew about this sort of thing. I'm a lecturer in engineering at a university and I intend to get every one of my 300 students to watch this - i.e. online or by lending them the DVD I've just bought of it. The world is going to be such a different place for them because of this issue. It's more convincing for us engineers than anything because it's by the geologists and engineers who deal with oil exploration and extraction every day, rather than some politician or environmentalist.
Good on the ABC for making it and the History Channel for putting it on in the US! Oh, and good on Qantas for showing it on their inflight entertainment.
