The Pentagon has dropped 60,000 leaflets over the Syrian town of Ar-Raqqa in an effort to dissuade residents from joining the Islamic State terror group.

On March 16, an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter dropped a specialized leaflet-dispenser bomb over the town of Raqqa for the first time ever in Syria, according to Col. Tadd Sholtis, an Air Force spokesman, USA Today reported.

The cartoon fliers showed Islamic State recruits being fed into a meat grinder. They were created by personnel from Military Information Support Operations, previously known as psychological operations, USA Today reported.

“The message of this leaflet is, if you allow yourself to be recruited by Daesh, you will find yourself in a meat-grinder that is not beneficial to your health,” Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren pentagon-drops-grisly-anti-isis-leaflets-in-syria” target=”_blank”>told The Hill, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group.

The Pentagon has spent more than $1 billion on propaganda publications and broadcasts to influence attitudes and behavior in the Middle East, USA Today reported.

“It’s trying to set the stage for an internal uprising against ISIS,” said Nicholas Heras, an expert on ISIS at the Center for a New American Security, USA Today reported.

The “mission creep” in Iraq grows and grows. Obama initially said the US would bomb ISIS just to protect a US consulate in a Kurdish City. Then our role expanded to protect minorities in Iraq. Then our role expanded again to protect Kurds in Syria.

Now we seem to be taking over the entire war. Just yesterday the US ordered Iranian-led Militias to get out of Tikrmt, because we were taking over the war effort there.

Its still unclear to me why the US is involving itself in this shia vs sunni religious war, and why we are on the side of the shia?

Clarity isn’t one of your strongest attributes planter.

Let me take a stab at it. Could it be because that’s what Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, United Technologies, L-3, BAE Systems, etc, all want?

HARM — you may well be right that Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, United Technologies, L-3, BAE Systems, etc are all delighted that Obama has dragged the US deeper and deeper into another pointless war, but I don’t get why Obama wants this.

I thought he was against this kind of thing?

It’s amazing how much borrowed money we have to burn spinning our wheels on the other side of the planet.

Is it not a bit ironic to think of US bombs exploding out leaflets criticizing ISIS for grinding up the almost innocent (poor and hopeless)?

Is this not the same coin?

Plant – I know your’re sort of baiting me here, but I have never argued that Obama is some kind of progressive messiah. Far from it, he –like Shrub before him– is a wholly owned subsidiary of Banksters, Inc.

Yes, and equally amazing how most of Uh-murika cannot connect the dots between this and the so-called “fact” that we cannot “afford” to provide everyone European-style healthcare coverage, debt-free post-secondary education (or vocational training), house the homeless, treat the mentally ill, and still keep seniors out of poverty.

    @HARM

I’m not “baiting” you—far from it. If you’ll read my comment more carefully you’ll see that I agreed with you about the big corporations. However, I then took the idea one step farther to move from a broad generalization about the evils of corporations to a more specific question of the motivation of President Obama, who is the person who is actually responsible for taking the US into this new war.

    Cheers!

Oh yeah, that cartoon blood is really going to have a chilling effect on those Islamic State recruits. Money well spent again. It’s easy to sway the mind of hyper religious people who’s first words were “Death to America”

More American toilet paper for ME butts…lol. Better than 60,000 bombs, but I am sure they are to follow. The MIC does not sell paper and ink. This is the best our State Department can come up with? American diplomacy is dead.
