A lot of the critics of vaccination aren't just scientifically ignorant, they're also happy to bully people with lawsuits. Take a look what happened to this guy when he pointed out that a radio presenter was talking a load of twaddle: http://www.badscience.net/2009/02/legal ... /#more-862No compelling evidence has ever been demonstrated that the MMR vaccine causes autism. But there *is* evidence that kids have died because their parents didn't vaccinate them.

My nephew is autistic. (high funcitoning asbergers) and my sister has had all sorts of people telling her waht to do, what she shouldn't have done, that they should have waited till he was after 5 years old to get his shots, loads of crap has been shovelled her way. Feed him this, train him in that, don't let him do X.
He was showing signs of being different from DAY ONE! He wouldn't hold himself upright long after the time he should have. He has an oral sensitivity so he wouldn't eat any food that wasn't "soft" or smooth. He wouldn't look around or be attracted by colours or movement like most babies do, he was just not interested in any of it. He was patently different long before he got his first set of shots, he wouldn't talk, they even thought at one point he was deaf he was so disinterested in his surroundings.
When I watch him and listen to the things she tells me about him, I see them as traits that many of my family members share. Like the relative who has an oral sensitivity and refused to eat jello (except through a straw), processed cheese of any kind, et al.
I think in the long run they are going to prove (as we see evidentially now) that autism is a genetic, predisposed or hereditary condition. Congenital and that there is only harm to be gained by not vaccinating your kids.
Parents: please get your kids vaccinated Others: stop blaming parents for everything.

Increasing risk for whooping cough? A step in the right direction, according to Nature.

Well, I got my kids immunized for everything they had available. And they are smarter than I am. I just call that article "Darwin award nominees by proxy". Whooping cough is nothing to mess with.
(no offense to anyone who doesn't believe in vaccinating -- it's your right)
But yeah, good way to knock down the 'excess population' as Scrooge would say.

Typical illogical response from Mos, building up a straw man about you to make it seem silly.

I said have fun with it. I'm not going to engage in this debate other than to say that I trust the objectivity of the news article, and I acknowledge that most here automatically reject it since it doesn't jive with their ideology.

(btw, I agree with you, but I'm a Tragedy of the Commons ) Possibly, but disease isn't the only way to keep the population down, nor are vaccines 100% effective. (and besides, I'm a physician, I'm a bit biased in this regard ... )

Whooping cough is nothing to mess with. I didn't get him the other vaccines because I don't think it's a good idea to mess around with the body's immune system unless there's a compelling reason (such as endemic pertussis and tetanus) to do so. I didn't think it likely that my child would be exposed to hep b without me knowing about it, and felt the others were an acceptable risk. I wasn't afraid it would make him autistic or stupid, or of other acute side effects. BTW his pediatrician was in complete agreement with our decision (in fact it was his recommendation). They used to vaccinate for hep b much later than newborn ... I'm not sure in that case if it really matters. Since I was working with indigent populations at the time and could conceivably bring home just about anything I thought it better to be proactive about it. ![dontknow [smilie=dontknow.gif]](./images/smilies/dontknow.gif)

Check out (Listen to the phone call) Quote: Paul Joseph Watson, Prison Planet.com, Friday, June 26, 2009: A member of the public who was concerned about a mandatory mass vaccination program in light of the swine flu pandemic called the Arkansas State Health Department for advice only to be told that mandatory vaccines were constitutional and could be enforced at gunpoint by the government if necessary. link

The Council on Foreign Relations just had a symposium where they discussed the swine flu vaccination programs and the growing public resistance to vaccination. They state that they must combat these "crazy people" and that they could create a sense of vaccine shortage to trick J6P into panicking and rushing to vaccinate. This was released in a CFR audio blog. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=23a_1257107005The "PANIC NOW!!" editing and effects are amusing, I thought.
