If the crops are not fit for human consumption, they would be first used for animal consumption. The export market may take up some of the product if it is feed grade or better, although the price the farmers get will not be as high. Reduced quality corn and soy still have uses- biodiesel, and ethanol being at the top of the list.
Getting the crops in is the primary concern. Quality will be determined at that time. Its a forgone conclusion that there will be some reduction in quality and therefore a reduction in price. Put another mark on the Economic Downturn side of the chalkboard.
