The global economy was built on cheap oil. In an era of high oil prices it will become a local, sustainable economy of locally produced energy with local jobs. If Walmart changed it’s business model and sourced more goods locally they could help produce local sustainable economies and produce local jobs.

If every trash dump in the country also had an attached second generation cellulose ethanol plant that produced transportation fuel we could go a long way toward reducing the impact of high oil prices on the economy. The raw material is being delivered daily.

Oil prices are going to rise. The question is how fast and at what damage to the economy and national security.

Ethanol has replaced 10% of a gallon of gasoline in the US. If ethanol had not replaced 10% of the content of a gallon of gas what would the price of oil be?
