Mexico oil production rises to 2.55 mln bpd

Mexico’s state oil monopoly Pemex said on Friday oil production rose to 2.55 million barrels per day (bpd) in March up from 2.543 million bpd produced in February.

The country’s monthly oil output has changed very little since 2009 after Pemex slowed the natural rate of decline at its largest, aging fields.

Crude output in the world’s No. 7 oil producer has fallen off since a peak of 3.4 million bpd in 2004, crimping government finances since the country relies on oil revenues to fund about a third of the federal budget.

Pemex said it expects to maintain production around 2.5 million bpd this year.

Export figures for March were expected to be released later on Friday.

Every country needs to develop a plan to balance population with resources, food, water, energy and jobs. Mexico’s solution is to export its population.

Production peaked in what? 2003-4? this is million bpd under that. While any uptick in production is good news I supose, (if your a big fan of oil anyhow), what are the odds there going to find another million bpd to add to that and keep it there for a decade or 20?..

    Well..slim and none.
