Egypt, Iraq and Jordan have called off talks regarding construction of a gas pipeline as a result of violence, instability and insecurity, reports Daily News Egypt.

The goal of the proposed pipeline was to carry Iraqi fuel to Jordan and Egypt or to transform gas to its liquid form in one of the factories operating in Egypt, which would then be exported.

According to the Egyptian newspaper, a study focusing on the construction of a pipeline was supposed to be completed at the end of this year.

In March this year, the three countries signed two agreements regarding the pipeline.

The first agreement dealt with transferring natural gas through the Arab Gas Pipeline. The second agreement required connecting of LNG project to the gas tube with a link up with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Electricity Company on the one hand and the Jordanian Egyptian FAJR company for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply on the other.

Egypt hangs by a thread of Saudi patrimony.
    Without oil handouts, Egypt fails.

The fact is, Saudi Arabia won’t permit Egypt to ‘play’ with mortal enemy Iran. KSA certainly won’t front Egypt money to build any pipeline.

Short term thinking I know… But then, time is short.

I got banned from James Hamilton Econobrowser. For slander, grenading, and vague criticism.

I can understand a bit of where he is coming from. Especially just the volume and him needing to concentrate on work. Still think it’s a mistake though. Think I had the nub of some real issues with his work…and that the lawyerly debates don’t get to the real investigation of things.

I should really concentrate on paid work…not Internet dick size contests.

This illustrates how seriously destabilized the situation in the ME really is. What we are witnessing are the birth pangs of the Sunni Caliphate, the sequel. The great American prophet of the coming multi-polar world order Samuel Huntington was right: Islam is rearing it’s head everywhere, from Nigeria, Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, the Stan’s, western China, India to the largest Islamic country Indonesia. When the Hollywood-Walmart progressive modernity will be evaporated, even in the West, nothing remains but the most archaic, fundamentalist version of Islam.
