Iraq's government is trying to persuade oil tanker drivers to return to work, after they walked off the job amid insurgent threats, forcing the closure of an oil refinery north of Baghdad, an oil ministry spokesman said.

Insurgents issued leaflets to threaten the drivers, threatening to kill them if they continue to transfer oil from the refinery in Baiji, spokesman Assem Jihad said.
