The price of gold is higher today and approaching a new barrier. Yet the dollar is high do to the carry trade, and betting on currency spreads. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-in ... /#comments

Could this be part of the reason? More fraud by central banks? http://news.goldseek.com/GoldSeek/1255630435.php

I think it is a gross understatement to say that this does not appear to be an indicator of stability.

I'd say it means that the large, well-informed interests think that it's a good time to buy gold.

...which they (bankers) are loathe to do. The moment gold hits $1100 will be a defining point that we will look back to. Whether it stays this high is something else. We could be hit with crushing deflation after a semi-hyperinflationary spike.

Sooner or later the quantitative easing and dollar carry trade is going to stop. We are in the middle of a QE bubble at the moment. When that stops, I don't want to think about what will happen next.

I could put a stop to this entire thing right now buy buying
gold at market and saying that I will hold my contracts to deliver.

I guarantee I would be buying at the exact top of the market.

Reason: I sold the exact bottom twice, to the day.

The kind of "fun" that I prepped for is the kind that most people don't survive. :(

I don't especially want to see that happen.

Remember people... everything you post here is logged for eternity, and the hard drives of Homeland Security will be the last to go.

Ten, twenty years from now, they might be making lists of "suspected" hoarders to pillage for food and fuel and anything to give the governement even 10 milliseconds more.

Regimes get as repressive before their downfall as the night is darkest before daybreak.

Just saying...

1. I always have assumed they already know who each of us is and where each of us lives.
2. It seems to me they'll have more important things to do than run down a few hundred or a few thousand peakers who may or may not have a years worth of rice in their basements. Like, say, the millions of starving people attempting to kick in the doors of the government supply houses.

Um, the Department of Homeland Security told me to prepare for something like that after 9/11.

Not to be pompous, but I'm a Texan. No one will easily disposes me of my property.

And to think I could have bought in at $730 if I hadn't been so damn busy that week...

We bought at $925 (on average) and feel darn lucky. In a few years no one will care if they spent $730, $925, or $1,090. Or even $1,500. This is one of few investments that is safe, sound, and smart.
