| To improve the readability of the site, I think it would be good to have an economics forum. I realize economists are persona non grata around here, but a more economist-friendly atmosphere might benefit everyone. Anyway, it would be nice if the economics threads weren't all mixed in haphazardly with the others. |

Dan and I have talked about it. Stay tuned.

I've made the suggestion as well. An economics forum should be included just as we have one for the geological aspects of depletion.
But I don't think it fair to say that economists are unwelcome. Granted, we often make snide comments about economists, but that is primarily about the economists who do not accept that an economy is embedded within a physical environment that is subject to physical laws.
In fact, many of the cornucopians are not even economists. They bring a mixed bag of backgrounds. |

I agree.
While PO at its core IS about the economy, and it’s hard to talk about any aspect of PO without talking about the economy, there are many other factors - the infamous “balloons”, which may seem unrelated to a casual observer but may be severely affected by steep, quick oil price increases.
I think a separate area where these are discussed would make the site appear less of a Doomer Getto and a better PO resource for the newcomer.
Then we can go on to meteors, pole-shift and the Illuminati, LOL

I also support the idea.
Every day I have to delve into more and more "junk" to get to the "serious stuff" (like my unnoticed and excellent last post, ) _________________ The government will think of something |

| I second this motion, economic discussions help to keep PO in perspective for me. I want to hear from the cornucopians as well as the doomers. Generally some where in between exists reality. |

| And a post about basic concepts of economy, for those of us that didn't know a word about it before we became aware of the issues, would be very helpful. |

Two ideas. One is to split the Planning forum into "Lifestyle Planning" and "Investment Planning"
The other idea is just a brand new "Economics" forum.
This will probably happen in the next month. Comment now on what you'd like to see. |

I vote for an Economics forum that parallels Planning, Geopolitics, Current Events, etc. |

There are lots of posts on investments, but maybe “Investment Planning” is too limiting for general economics discussions, especially for those of us with our fortunes already committed …
Perhaps two new forums are too much but:
Investment Planning
And
Peak Oil Economics
