How then, do we move backwards? How does a society, with most of the people having no clue of future events, move from being dependent on a vast and intertwined network of goods and services produced by the indigenous people of whereever, to a local resource and renewable energy based society, and do so in the timeframe available (20-30 years using the most liberal extimates, 10-20 with resonable estimates, 5-10 with worst case scenarios), all the while prices on everything increasing, world politics getting more militaristic, governments continuously reducing civil liberties, shortages of goods on the market and weather patterns resembling bad Hollywood movies?

CBC tonight advertised that "Running on Empty" would appear on the National tomorrow (Wednesday). Kunstler will be in it. I checked the National webpage but could not find details.

Wow, did anybody see this? Most of it was not remarkable, but they gave Kunstler about ten minutes. It was full on Long Emergency stuff, no more airlines, etc. And apart from calling his views "extreme" (which they are actually), they were not dismissive of him. Somewhat shocking to see that on MSM.

Here's the link to the video (it will probably be moved after today).

http://www.cbc.ca/national/latestbroadcast.html

Running on empty begins at about minute 26; Kunstler is on at minute 39.

thanks for the video, as a american I've always been a fan of the fourth estate. The national seems to be great as well.

When did Kunstler become a futurist? Rolling Eyes
