For a minute there I thought I had to get off my couch, when all the while the fact is we don't have to do anything much but keep things afloat for just a few decades more! In fact, we'd best shut up about PO, because if our offspring finds out we knew about it all along, they'll turn and wring our necks come 2036!

There may be a flip side to the oil embargo idea. We all hear about the coming 'oil wars'. I bet King Fahd called his special meeting not because he wants to dictate policy to oil importing countries, but because he has concerns about getting his country taken away from him. Chavez should have the same concerns. To quote the Messiah, Barack O'bama, "these are little countries and can't hurt the United States". But we are a big country, and can/should/will do what we need to do for the 'good of all people', especially ourselves. There are lot of posts here about how the 'people' will demand energy even at a cost to the enviroment ( coal ). They will also not care about Kings, emirs, or pudgy little dictators from starving south American countries. _________________ HOLDING THE CENTER

The best way to get your country taken away from you is to use oil as political blackmail rather than allowing it to flow freely in the market. Other countries will treat that as a causus belli. _________________ Peak oil is sort of like a mental Everlasting Gobstopper, except it tastes like ass and you can't get it out of your mouth.
