It doesn't work for me either.
I am not exactly a web designer nor compleletly database savvy: However, noticing how slow it is for that page to come up, I have a suggestion:
Schedule a job to capture a 'last 24-hour' snapshot and run it every minute (or whatever), probably similar to how the right side of the webpage has 'top pick' or 'latest forum entries'.
Then populate the results page from that table so that users don't need to have the search redone everytime they click on 'Last 24 Hours'. |

It has been over a month now the last 24 hours search has not worked for reasons described above.
It is too bad really because it is my favourite way of searching the site, and an especially usefull tool since this site is always so slow.
So too bad but I find myself drifting away from this site not for the quality of the posts or posters, but for bugs that have existed here (off and on) for years. http://www.peakoil.com/modules/Forums/images/smiles/sad.gif |

Dear Moderator
This function still does not work. Could you please try to fix it, it is a very helpful feature that I use every time I visit the site. I have made a donation to try and help out
Thank you |

I posted a solution to this more than a year and a half ago, but apparently it was not used. Unfortunately the message was deleted some time ago so I'll have to find the solution again.
Luckily google cache saves the day!
The solution was for search.php, but the same code snippet is used in getdaily.php, which "Last 24 Hours" uses.
Until this get fixed, the main alternative is to be logged in and use View posts since last visit. |

Is there a way for the results of Last 24 Hours to open onto the site's pages, instead of the cached (or whatever) version? Not critical, but it's not the same without the avatars, or pstarr's little cheerleader. _________________ Cogito, ergo non satis bibivi

I added a wikipedia-style external link to the index. |

Changed it around, added a checkbox at the bottom:
"Link to http://peakoil.com (instead of cached copy)"
The page will remember your setting in a cookie, so you should only have to click it once. |

| Have admins tried increasing the max_allowed_packet value yet? Maybe to something large, like 32M? or 64M? Looks like it's getting killed after 1MB (which seems sort of low). |
