Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

Out of curiosity I thought that I would look to see what was in my first post to this august group waayy back there in the dim mists of time. To my surprise (and disappointment) I see my past cuts off in January of 2008. That's right behind me. Yikes! What if my past catches up to me? What happens then?

The page shows 4 pages at the bottom. But when I click the page, a page that announces that no page exists appears. Four years of posts gone? Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone go back and look at posts from bygone eras or to just check something? Is there a problem with the archives or just a little glitch that can be repaired with a simple gesture or wave of the hand.

Idle curiosity has now ballooned into frenzied thirst for knowing what was in those posts. I must find out what was actually in those posts. Maybe they have become Classified-what was in them that was that dangerous or sinister? No- I'm getting carried away with myself. I must calm down. Someone will fix it - someone always does.

We lost a certain amount of data after our most recent hack (a really nasty one).

Our sincere apologies if you got clipped in the process.

Not to worry; you're only as good as your last post anyway.

Whatever is done is done
I just can't recall
It doesn't matter at all

You see it's all clear
You were meant to be here

From the beginning.

This will be a relief to some and will upset others, but MQ's history is also missing.

Aaron, please tell me if I am wrong.

I'd have to look.

That part of this hack was just plain mean-spirited.

Mostly we get the kind of hackers who just want Net Cred for having breached our security. Whoever did this didn't even leave a calling card... just did damage.

Very uncool

This is going to break his big heart, but I'm not seeing PMS's history either.

Mean-spirited? Or was there some information someone wanted missing? Why would anyone partially delete stuff for kicks?

I'm thinking Buzz did it to cover his tracks so he could keep his high-clearance rating at the DHS.

Hard drives are cheap.

Back up the database.

You are then left with the possibility of losing what has been entered since the last backup.

The db size is still over 1GB, so the data should all be there somehow, no?

I had a local backup on my hard drive a few months ago, but I deleted it when I got upset that time. Sorry Sad

Wasn't steam_expert_cannon(Very Happy) doing a DVD or disk of the archives a while back?

Looks to me like the posts are still there. Earlier the links in Profile -> Find all post by <author> didn't work except the first page, but now they do. At least they do for you, Buzzard.

MonteQuest's history is still messed up (the links to pages of his posts beyond the first page give that error you mentioned), but if you look back at older threads his posts are still there. So something is messed up in either the database or the history links, but the actual content of the posts is still there and still associated with the correct author when displayed in threads.
