Saudi Arabia colluded with Israel to kill Hezbollah leader Mughniyeh

"Through a Syrian woman, a Saudi secret service agent who works in Damascus acquired two cars that were used by Israeli secret service agents to kill the commander Haj Imad Mughniyeh," said the Fars report.

The Fars report said the former US ambassador to Washington, Banda al-Sultan, ordered the killing of Mughniyeh and that the Saudis did so to avenge the attack against a US military base in Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

A carbomb attack on 25 June 1996 at the Abdul Aziz airbase in Khobar, near Dhahran, killed 19 US soldiers and injured 446 people, including 173 Americans.

The Saudis have always suggested Mughniyeh planned and organised this attack.

I doubt Abqaiq or Ras Tanura could survive a missile attack.

Abqaiq, northeast of some of the largest Saudi oilfields (including the huge Ghawar field) handles around two-thirds of the entire oil production of Saudi Arabia. After processing at Abqaiq, most of the oil is funnelled to the massive refinery at Ras Tanura on the Persian Gulf coast; it is then exported from the Ras Tanura terminal, the world's largest offshore oil-loading facility.

...there remains the much greater potential that an Iran bombed by Israel or the United States could engage in precisely this kind of asymmetric warfare.

Hezbollah are Shiits and close to Tehran, the Arab Sunnis of Lebanon are relatively close to Saudi and the Saudis have a great deal of bussiness interest in Lebanon. The Suadi Israeli team up has been pretty open for a couple of years. Especialy since the rise of Hamas in the occupied territories. Saudi, Egypt and now Israel are backing the PLO\ Fatah to counter the Muslim Brotherhoods highly popular Hamas. They fear the Muslim Brotherhood far far more than they fear Israel. Israel can never conquer there countries the Brotherhood is close to power in Egypt.
