Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I live south of Smithton surrounded by plantations. If Peak Oil hits hard and fast I figure we have a life time's supply of fire wood and building materials. Smile

We're certainly planning for a life without electricity, petrol, shops, etc. Got a long way to go, but living in an isolated rural area with like-minded neighbours gives us hope.

Definitely. It's compact, but only has a small population. There's lots to see and do and a variety of different environments. Forty-odd percent of it is locked up in national parks. Almost twice as many tourists come to Tassie each year as people who actually live here. Most come in summer when a large part of the place looks just like any other part of Australia - dry and dead. Winter is when it's truly beautiful, but only if you can handle the cold. Coming here is like setting your clock back 20 years, which is great. As a result though, many places are closed during the off-peak winter season.

I'd like to live in Tasy. I've visited twice and there's more I want to see. I think I might have a bit of a problem with the cold though. Also it is so far away from all my close family. My sister won't be able to visit any more. So I'm looking at Northern NSW and (inland) SE Queensland instead. Although Tasy's still hovering in the back of my mind, and I look at the real estate ads for there every now and then.

Yep, here I am. I moved down here 3 years ago in order to find a more sustainable lifestyle. Love it. I live in Hobart ... half half an acre of food gardens and am doing well.

The island is spectacular - it is possibly one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I have travelled over a fair bit of it. I am happy to be here.

ETA What cold? LOL Hobart is warmer than Victoria, where I lived previously, but also much cooler in summer. Winters are sunny, bright and mild. Cold is only if you chose to live atop a mountain.

Well it is official. We are moving back to Hobart May/june.

We'll just have to see what happens then.
