Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Below is a link to one of the best websites to find available acreage all over the US. Everything from individual lots to ranches over 50,000 acres.
For those of us serious about preperation for either Peakoil, world war III, or keeping a piece of ground our grandkids can enjoy in the future you should consider purchasing land. This site is a great resource for email updates and checking prices in an area.
Check it out. Real estate is always a good long term investment and you would rather have it and not need it in an emergency then need it and not have it.

Those listings seem to start at 10 acres. If you also want to see smaller parcels in your area, you might want to go to Realtor.com and used their advanced search. That lets you specify the type of property you're looking for, like land or a farm, the amount of acreage (look down the page for 'lot size'), the area you want to look near, and the max you're willing to pay. You can save your searches if you register (free).
These are the MLS listings in the area you specify. Just remember that everyone is still in dreamland about how much things are worth, and farmland is beginning a bubble due to increasing food prices. It may be many years before prices drop on farmland, however. A good bet is land that someone planned to develop but now has to get out of quick! Remember to bid well below the asking price.

I agree, farmland has gone through the roof. Even ranching property has skyrocketed due to good cattle/sheep prices. It is definitely a tough market to buy into.

Best bet is to drive around and write down the realtor for properties you see so you can get access to their MLS (multiple listings service). Nothing I've seen on the MLS was on either of those sites. Also, sometimes people sell privately, so ask around with your friends and acquaintances, too.
