I lurked on peak oil for a few years, then joined up. I can't remember how I found it, but I think I found the news first, then the forums.

I got informed about peak oil only last spring but have been educating myself about it ever since. This site seems to have the best message board regarding the issue so that's what brought me here. Googling basically.

So hi everyone.

In 1992 while studying geology I was shown the graph of how much oil was discovered and when. It occurred to me that if most of the oil was discovered 30 years previously with very little since that there would be a problem a some point.

In 2003, while watching the US, British and us Australians go to war in Iraq, again I started to seriously question the mainstream political agenda like I had never done so before.

I did an internet search in 2003. I came across several articles. I came across this website and the Oil drum a year or so later. I read 3 books on he subject (the main one "The Party is Over") and absorbed everything I could find. I found this message board quite useful.

I eventually joined when I felt I had something useful to contribute. Six months after joining I started developing a response. About the same time I got started with putting that plan on the ground.

Googling "karl denninger" and "racist" strangely enough.

I've known this site along with theoildrum.com were here for years, just never attempted to become active.

I spend most of my time on tickerforum.org and I've been actively trading PUT options on lenders since January 2007. Other than the redneck leanings of the owner of the blog, it's been a great source of information with many highly intelligent posters. I'm looking for a new home... why is there no discussion of finance here? maybe I just haven't seen the forum yet...

Go to 'depletion economics' and then 'traders corner' There are a fair number of active traders there. You will be right at home.

Welcome. So I assume in your view we fall under 'potentially useful information' rather than tinfoil?

Welcome... also check the current events section for trends and oil-related news affecting supply. You will find a few members here offering very valuable info, insight, and commentary in this area. We have some jive nonsense too, but just blow past that and focus on the good stuff.

Much of what you'll read here you'll find to be very helpful if you're like a few of us trading in energy.
