NYMEX Crude Oil (Light) ........................121.20 5.64 NYMEX NYH RBOB Gasoline (Globex) ...... 3.0421 .1318

Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

There are parlimentary election's coming next month here and the Green party has released an election program for the next parlament season about getting free of oil dependance. There are twelwe points at the program, I try to translate them.

  • Checking buildings energy norms
  • Raising benefit to make small houses energy efficient
  • Raising tax for light heating oil
  • Helping oil heating with sun collectors
  • Energy saving announcements
  • Promote reviving society planning (building near mass transit)
  • Supporting remote work
  • Promote light traffic
  • Ambitious rail traffic program
  • Progressive driving tax
  • Satellite based rush hour payments
  • Promote alternate fuels

The list is translated from the Greens webpage.
PDF file of the program (in Finnish)

I read quickly the program. It was written with peak oil in mind.

Sounds very good, and I'm a green voter myself; how big is the green party in Finland?

Green are the 5th largest, a mid size party. There are 3 major parties, that are almost equal in size, Social Democrats, Center Party and Conservative. Fourth largest is Left alliance, witch is mid size. Some say Greens might get to the fourth place in this elections, past the leftists.

So there's only a small chance of this agenda materializing I think? Still pretty interesting that they thought this up with PeakOil in mind like you say.

Yes it is unlikely the Green's get their program through, but the parties do listen each other and the others might get influenced by green's oil independence program. So the other parties might build their own oil independence programs. The social democrats have hinted they have similiar things in mind.

You will do fine in Finland, come what may. I would not count on the gov't in any country coming to our rescue. Prepare accordingly.

Thanks Tuike Smile

This document looks as if it is something I could give to my boss.

Now seems to be a good time to talk to him about changing from oil for heating, as someone filled the tank with summer grade heating oil and the whole lot froze in the recent cold spell --- not good for a residential home! Before this I knew diesel changed from summer to winter grades, but didn't know that heating oil did the same!

I have done my bit by getting rid of a 30+ year old oil heating system for ground heat exchange - that has worked well in the cold weather, but then I am in the "warm" part of Finland so have only had to manage a couple of days at - 20C. -- I feel good about not useing oil, but a little guilty about increasing electricity consumption. What about reactor no. 6?

Do they support, oppose or accept it?

Most of the Greens oppose Nuclear power. Some accept it as a way to fight global warming.
