Yes my fellow british citizens, yesterday was a monumentous occasion!
Whilst I was following my usual sad routine of watching my daily dose of Neighbours, I nearly spat out my drink when the little goth girl Bree said 'Dr Karl, haven't you ever heard of the oil peak?' plus a bit about western civilisation killing the planet and wage slavery.
Amazing, loads of sheeple watch this programme (even though they say they don't) and big kudos to the writers for adding this to the script, obviously something is getting through. This episode would probably have been broadcast in Australia ages ago though knowing our time lag. |

And now we shall see soap opera drama characters turning survivalists running into hills...
Enjoy your TV and don't forget to pay your licence or else...you know about this despicable crime destroying British economy (TV licence non-payment by unemployed single moms).
They should all be sold to gulags! |

Haven't seen the show, but it sounds to me like they made a point of having the subject raised by some messed up goth kid so everyone would know it was just crazy talk. _________________ The battle to preserve our lifestyle has already been lost. It was mentioned in Enterprise, the startrek spin off. Don't know what episode but it was the vulcan woman on a time travel escapade to earth.
She said something like "isn't this when humanity were about to enter the era of hydrocarbon depletion?"
Then I think there was an explosion or something and the conversation stopped.
yeah, I nearly dropped my cup a soup. |

Actually Bree is portrayed as the only girl with brains in a family of morons (she recently found out she was switched at birth which explains why). If you think she is messed you should see her acoholic 18 year old 'brother' who just became a dad! haha don't you just love soaps - so melodramatic. At the time she was lecturing Karl on how his concerns were so passe and how todays kids have a lot more to deal with (or I took it in this context). I think it was genuinely meant. |
