NYMEX Crude Oil (Light) ........................121.20 5.64 NYMEX NYH RBOB Gasoline (Globex) ...... 3.0421 .1318

Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

That's one benefit of Peak Oil I'm looking forward to.

...wide open roads with less traffic.

Already I'm noticing a 300% increase in the number of motorcycles in my ride to work each morning over last year.

Motorcyles take up a lot less space than cars. The people who ride them are more cautious about running into things because doing so results in a trip to the emergency room, not just the auto body shop.

I ride my motorcycle to work 4 to 5 days a week. I live just 6 miles from work. I now average $15 per week for my fuel costs for work + weekend errands. My wife works at home and when she does drive, it's in her Honda. Our average fuel costs are under $200 per month with both of us working.

I still own a large (older) suv (Toyota Land Cruiser) that only gets 15 mpg but I rarely use it anymore.

As a family we are now using less then 1/2 the gas we were a few years ago. I tell as many people as I can about why oil will never go back down in price.

I harbor an intense but totally irrational love of Land Cruisers. I had a 1973 FJ40 I wish I had never gotten rid of.

I want a situation like yours. I want to set up an FJ80 as the ultimate Bug-Out vehicle and leave it parked. At 13mpg, I would only use it when I need to pull a heavy trailer or escape a terrorist attack or natural disaster.

Ideally I'd have a Diesel Land Cruiser so I could run it on bacon grease if it came to that. I won't because biodiesel is taking off and 20 year-old Cruisers with 100K+ miles on them are selling for $11,000 in Ebay.

I'd be interested to learn your Houston bug out plan Tommy.

If I can't convince my sister to leave, maybe I can convince my nephew to prepare a bug-out plan.

Maybe that's a new thread?

My uncle owns and resides upon 140 acres of good farmland in southern Oklahoma.

If a dirty bomb goes off in a shipping container in the Port of Houston, that's where I'm heading.

I live well north of Houston, so it's 396 miles to the farm. An FJ80 is big enough to haul my family and my parents there. If I add 1 auxilliary fuel tank, I can acheive a 500 mile range.

The PTO winch and 4x4 would give us a better chance of getting through backroads if the interstates and state highways are clogged.
