If "it's bunker time" why the fark do you care about the price of gold? You evolved some enzyme that lets you digest the stuff?

What I find funny is that I have heard many of the arguments against the A380 before, but in a different setting.

In 1968 the first Boeing 747 was unveiled. One year later Concord made its maiden flight. Immediately a discussion broke out between the advocates of the 747 and the Concord. The main arguments of the Concord supporters were.

- Airports can't handle these big airplanes and their passengers.
- People don't want to fly in these big planes.
- People want to fly from door to door, while the 747 can only deliver services to big airports.

What happened? Shortly afterward the oil shock made its appearance. When faced with higher prices people suddenly didn't seem to mind these big airplanes as they could offer lower rates. All outstanding external orders for the Concord were canceled, while airlines scrambled to get 747's.

Concord became a toy for the rich and famous, while the 747 became a multi-billion dollar success.

The best thing that can happen to Airbus now are higher oil prices. History is very clear on that.
