Is it a prophesy? Does Mel know something we don't?

Nope... probably just about as much as we do. (I wonder if he lurks here?) Only difference is that he's got the millions to make it all happen.

Poll: I voted for the first option, but mostly because of the question mark. Is this poll going to be de rigeur for new posts now? I don't see any way to be certain until declines accelerate and can't be reversed.

Gibbo's no fool, I wouldn't be suprised if he lurks here.

Plus he's also got the money which helps, good luck to him.

The move is a further sign that the star is losing interest in keeping up his status as an A-list leading man and is beginning to turn his back on Hollywood.

Oh heaven forbid someone thinks for themselves!

I wonder if he envisages a 'Madmax' future unfolding?

Going "off-grid" is becoming fashionable among the Hollywood elite.

During a recent episode of Living With Ed, Ed Begley said he would like to get off the grid "in case anything happens". Later they visited the home of musician Jackson Brown that is totally independent of the grid...

Jackson Brown also expressed a desire to be grid independant "in case anything happens".

The recent California power system failures have spooked the Socialist elites who created it. They abandon ship by purchasing expensive solar and wind home power systems. The proles can sit in the heat and in the dark.

With every power failure, housing crisis, health care crisis, and new government-by-force program California becomes more like the Soviet Union, with predictable results.

How do you manage to turn every world event into an excuse to dump on imaginary socialists? Aren't California energy woes a result of deregulation promulgated by several Republican administrations for the sake of their wealthy campaign contributors such as Enron? Am I missing something.

I had no idea that Jackson Brown runs California. Maybe you are confusing him with ex-Governor Brown, the guy with the solar panels back in the 1970's?

Socialist "elites" who buy their own little generators and leave others to sit in the dark, by definition are not socialist. I don't know what to call them, but in future they will probably share more characteristics with the free men of Rome than anyone from the Warsaw Pact.

And a history lesson; the Soviet Union never had much of that either, even the "elites" had a shitty little apartment unless they were one of a handful of powerbrokers in Moscow. Minor town governors are probably doing better in China these days than they did in the USSR, you need capitalism and a lack of law enforcement for corruption to gain currency, of the many delightful ironies is that graft too is harmed by excessive regulation.

Note that President Bush's Texas ranch is almost off-grid.

I really wish I knew the thought process that went into designing it that way.

The Texas grid is probably the most stable in the country.

Before Braveheart they said Mel Gibson could never play a Scotsman but look at him now, an alcoholic and a racist.

For how much longer, 40% gas-fired and new wells are showing 30% decline rates. I wish Matthew Simmons would publish an update on the situation.

ha ha

I have this theory that a person's true personality is only revealed when they can do anything with impunity.
Quote:
The success of The Passion of the Christ, which grossed more than £300million, means Gibson no longer has to worry about controlling his behaviour.

getting back to the "socialist liberals" in America. I also have a theory that the "elitist" liberals aren't really socialists. On the contrary they enjoy their privilege positions with as much enthusiasm as the Bourgeoisie class described in those wonderful Charles Dickens novels.

As the grid becomes less stable, I think in the future being able to go "off grid" will have absolutely nothing to do with making an environmental statement...but rather as a status symbol. Similar to how today the elites live in gated communities and fly in private jets.

Man I am impressed, all it takes to go off the grid is millions of dollars and fame. WTF ever.

These guys are so full of shit. They aren't socialists, they just want to be apart of the inner circle ruling class. If they had an uncle Joe to lead them they would be set.

This is like Barbra Streisand being a champion of the little guy and the environment. They are hypocrites. And when the little guy wants to get beach access in front of Babs Malibu mansion she gets all bent out of shape over it.

and Mel Gibson said he was sorry for all the Jew bashing can't you guys forgive him?

Man I hate celebrities, like Oprah ordaining our next President, why do people give a crap what Oprah thinks? and Why does my Wife?
