Not only is Mel off the grid, he is apparently off the beam
as well, thinking he's still in Hollywood.

Twelve million dollars for 400 acres in remote Central America!
That's $30,000 per acre!

The grid is only stressed for a few hours each day. Turn your air conditioners down a notch or two and stop claiming the end is near.
There's a program we have in California where you let the utility company install a radio controlled kill switch to your AC (air conditioner). In exchange for this you get some type of credit / money incentive. The plan is voluntary of course. This is not recommended for senior citizens.

These "kill switches" (which can turn off your AC) are suppose to hopefully prevent future blackouts....or at least prevent an excessive number from happening. When the grid gets stressed (when everybody tries to turn on their AC on a hot day) the utility company can send a radio signal out to set off these kill switches.

sounds like doomer porn huh? When I first told this to my family members they replied: "are you surfing those end of the world Armageddon websites again?" --> next month we got a letter in the mail from the utility company promoting these kill switches.

My point was that there are remedies. That seems like a good idea although I wonder how many volunteers they will get.

If you are curious you can check this site to see how stressed any grid is on a given day.

I find it interesting no one has mentioned his 7 offspring. Or his wife of 27 years.

His character as Max is, like it or not, seared into our subconscious.

His movies are brilliant.

Any way you slice it, Mel's a fucking genius. Hes simply "pulled it off".

And that many kids means a fighting chance at repopulating the Earth.
